Donovan is doing SUCH a great job on party "unity" ... Almost as good as Buchanan.

Losing Longo and A-Jello are two positives. Addition through subtraction. Tracy was left with a mess. The voters need to wake up and start dumping these DEM morons who have infested town halls. The same problem in Nisky, where the REP committee is comatose. At the end of the day Schenectady will have 2 REP Majority State Senators and A-Jello will lose again for Assembly. That ain't bad. What happened in the City {$5 MILLION deficit that the DEM morons tried to hide} must be a wake up call to County voters. Stop the new County Home before it's too late.

The Republican responses to this announcement makes the Republicans sound like a bunch of bitter, sour-grapes spewing losers.

Do you still have her sauce recipe? We need a good sauce to stew these Dem morons who destroyed City and County finances for generations.

My thoughts ...

There is usually a "carrot and a stick".  If there was a promised salary increase offered, the town budget SHOULD show it.  And, if, it could be tied directly to Longo's decision to switch parties, it would constitute both an abuse of power and a misappropriation of tax revenues.

I would expect that the Democrats promised Longo their party endorsement in his next reelection bid.  The results of the
last election indicate that Longo faced a formidable challenger.  Longo narrowly defeated Romano.  But, what is the stick?  Do the Democrat party bosses have some "inside baseball" that they threatened to make public?

Now to the Democrat party interest ... Why would they want Longo on their side of the great political divide?  Was it to
clear the decks for Santabarbara's run, to further erradicate the local Republican party, and/or some other motive?

Would be interested in seeing the facts exposed in a media report on this development.

Here's a thought...

I happen to know that Longo wanted to run for Town Justice...and that despite rumors, Jim Hamilton denies any plans to take the seat that will
supposedly be vacated by Kevin Mercoglan before his term ends....

Just a thought...

Welcome back gadfly and your post, 'despite rumors', is believed to be a 'valid' rumor!

because there's no need for him to do such.....it's the links in the chain that matter...not necessarily where that link lies as long as they are connected

Unfortunately the whining cry-baby RepublicaNTs seem to think that sobbing uncontrollably to this announcement will bring Mr. Longo back.. but they will STILL be losers. Mr. Longo has done his job with grace under pressure, so joining with the winning and popular Team is only smart. I wish him well.
