Sorry Hamburg. Your right. They are way above me on the food chain. I am just excited. New York State and Moodys will be asking the questions for me. Just have to wait a little longer.....

WE are taxpayers. SOME of us reside in the towns and we pay COUNTY taxes. SOME of us reside in the city and pay CITY taxes. All of US pay taxes---OUR hard earned money--to Metroplex.
This is OUR money, OUR tax dollars.
But Ham, based on what YOU are saying, neither the mayor nor Gillen have to report to the TAXPAYERS on the use of the TAXPAYERS' money. Is that right?
What you are saying, further, is that when taxpayers question the use of their money, they are not entitled to an explanation from the government on the use of their money?
Apparently, Ham, in your mind, the taxpayers must NEVER question the use of their money? That the government should be able to increase taxes and the homeowners must simply fork it over, keep their mouths shut, and never complain?
Well???? Of course the big chicken Ham will not respond to these questions.
Well?
Tell us ham.
1. DO the taxpayers have a right to know what is done with their tax dollars?
2. Do the taxpayers have a right to question the use of their tax dollars?
.

The City DEMS won't even speak to reporters. They have yet to offer an explanation for how the DEM morons could have possibly rung up a $5 MILLION deficit in one year and didn't tell anyone about it. Resignations from Finance, Assessment, Mayor's Office, City Hall should be raining down. But just the opposite is occurring. They packed the Board of Assessment Review with more unqualified stooges. The new City Engineer is also Deputy Mayor /Chief of Staff Winkler. They are putting Sharon Jordan to shame. Talk about circling the wagons. Everyone is laughing at these City DEM idiots and their brain dead supporters. Got dog insurance? ROTFLMAO!
Watch the axe Eliminating city jobs will add to, not solve, our economic crisis BY ROBERT CARACCIOLO For The Sunday Gazette Robert Caracciolo lives in Schenectady and is a regular contributor to the Sunday Opinion section.
Word of advice to Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy and the City Council: Resist the urge to lay off city workers. Is it the workers’ fault that tax revenues were grossly over-projected last year by millions of dollars? No. Is it the workers’ fault that nearly all of the city’s savings were used to pay for unpaid county property taxes? No. The mayor and City Council want to reduce the city’s overall expenses, which is responsible and understandable. No one should fault them for that, especially with a defi cit at our doorstep. But besides the fact that it will be politically damaging, eliminating city jobs will do more harm than good, as city residents are already suffering from high taxes and an incapacitated real estate market. It’s safe to say that most city workers are city residents. If the mayor and City Council think that the tax revenue was low last year, try putting 50 or 100 more workers out of a job. Not only would that increase the city’s unemployment rate, which is currently at 9.7 percent according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, but it could have a compounding effect on the poverty rate and homeownership rate as well. This could prove detrimental to the city’s already meager tax base. DISADVANTAGES ABOUND They should also heed the advice of Michael Cuevas, Republican City Committee chairman, who says that layoffs are not cut and dried, but rather arduous, and will ultimately increase the city’s unemployment insurance costs. And if we’ve learned anything from the police department: When you are short-staffed and lack the proper work force, existing employees end up making up for the loss. That means more overtime to pay out, which results in less fi nancial benefi t from terminating city workers. If hard times are ahead, as the mayor and City Council have indicated, then what do we call the past four years? Schenectady residents don’t want to hear that sacrifi ces need to be made, and that everything is on the chopping block. Perhaps this is the reality of the situation, but another reality is that residents have sacrifi ced enough. The mayor and City Council need to shelve the idea of laying off employees and focus on better tax collection, which city Finance Commissioner Ismat Alam claims already is happening. Furthermore, they need to cut any unnecessary fat from the budget and control the discretionary spending of city departments. Why were some departments allowed to vastly exceed their allocated budget last year? What’s to stop them from doing it again this year? Prioritizing more effi ciently and long-term is vital. Is it more detrimental to the city to close public pools or to eliminate the jobs of many city workers? What short-term losses can we and can we not deal with? Mayor McCarthy needs to know that people don’t want to wait two years to say he did a good job. This is political grandstanding and a ploy to dismiss himself from any wrongdoings or shortcomings that may occur until then. Bringing in more homeowners is a viable long-term solution, but how many more people need to buy homes in Schenectady to make up for a $3.4 million shortfall in tax revenue? Plus, what’s the incentive to bring these new homeowners to Schenectady? Tax breaks? NEED FOR REFORMS The mayor and City Council should approach public employee unions and ask for, at the very minimum, temporary reductions in benefi ts, including health care. But they shouldn’t demand such things by threatening layoffs. They should address the unions with a sensible plan, one that will quickly help get the city out of debt and that has a sunset provision that will eventually restore benefi ts once a budget surplus occurs. Would it also help the city if the public employee pension system were comprehensively reformed? Yes. Unfortunately, that battle must start at the state level. If Councilman Carl Erikson wants to lobby the state to reform its pension system, he surely has a potential ally in Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has already successfully demanded several concessions from the top public employee unions in the state. There’s no doubt that the pension system is bloated with contractual obligations and deals made to unions during economic and fi nancial boom times. .......................>>>>..........................>>>>.......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r03100&AppName=1
Continue to do nothing and pretend all is well-the Gary McCarthy plan! This is the exact "thinking" that led to the current DEM scandal. The DEM morons created a $5 MILLION deficit in one year and then refused to admit it until they filed State report. At last weeks committee meeting they discussed by MORE vehicles and mandatory dog insurance.

That's the whole problem. McCarthy never answers any questions because he only surrounds himself with DEM yesmen/stooges. Tonight's City Council meeting should be packed with residents demanding his resignation for fiscal incompetence. How long did he think he could hide a $5 MILLION deficit? Dog lover's unite and demand the resignations McCarthy and his City Attorney. Large dog tax? Only in Schenectady.

Notice that Ham refuses to answer the question of whether the taxpayers have a right to be told what is done with their money.
Ham, you are saying that the city leaders are correct in keeping secret what they do with the taxpayers' money? Based on what what? Show us the EVIDENCE the supports your statement that the the mayor and Gillen do not have to tell taxpayers what is done with the taxapyers' money. Can you tell us? Provide the EVIDENCE?
Of course, ham, aka DV will NOT answer, he will just spew more babble, tell us he does not have to answer us, or will spew his usual obscenities.

So what's the reason why the McC wouldn't release the audit today about the city? What's the cover-up? Taxpayers have a birthright entitlement to know IMMEDIATELY upon it's release and not have to wait for McC to figure out what he wants to hide in the report

At the City Council meeting they finally awoke and stopped incompetent McCarthy from wasting another $360,000 on a pump station in the Stockade. Brucker cried that it would hurt hurricane flooding. King cried that it would stop renaissance on lower Stare Street. Huh? A park and bus station are hardly renaissance. It's obvious that the Council got a wake up even if McCarthy is still in complete denial.
Not as deep a hole for city Independent audit finds Schenectady's finances not as dire as thought By Lauren Stanforth Published 09:22 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012
SCHENECTADY — An independent audit released Monday on city finances showed things aren't as dire as Mayor Gary McCarthy painted two weeks ago when he said the city experienced a $5 million deficit last year.
While the audit, done by Cusack and Company in Latham, showed Schenectady failed to raise $3.6 million budgeted for tax collections, the city did not spend the whole $7.8 million it had anticipated would have to be used in reserves to balance 2011 spending. Savings were largely found by switching employee health insurance to a less expensive option.
McCarthy said he's not pleased the city would have to tap into reserves at all, which is why he has continued to point out the $4.8 million cash shortfall Schenectady experienced last year. An unexpected $1 million payment to Schenectady County for back taxes also contributed to the deficit................>>>>..................>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Not-as-deep-a-hole-for-city-3557986.php#ixzz1uw2hpWE6
The DEM morons anticipated $10 MILLION more in revenues than they took in. Crisis? What crisis? No need to change course in Camden North. Remember Bell, California? This is what is happening here. McCarthy's Deputy Mayor is getting over $90,000 3X what Sharon Jordan received. And she was overpaid. No change in the vehicle fleet, no layoffs and a large dog tax. Keep the DEM implosion going!
The next big squeeze Gary plans will be recycling.
Glad you mentioned that. In one of the stories about Schenectady, I'm sure I saw a comment from Carl Olsen or about his dept in terms of the recycling. I think it said something that they need people to recycle more.
Guess Olsen's recycling "show" on Ch 18 is not producing results. Of course the music was geared towards the younger people, like those in Joe Allen's neighborhood as he always complained even about trash cans that are stored in front of the house instead of the back. Neither dem previous councilman Allen nor Carl Olsen with his virtually endless loop of that rap (music) show geared especially towards those residents have been successful at getting more people to recycle.
Not amount of a taxpayer funded TV show airing on fat Morris' TV channel (probably making him richer financially too) is going to make more people recycle.
McC claims he believes money will come in from selling these tax delinquent properties. How are the houses selling in this handout program with this taxpayer funded bus tours from the city? Where's the report for the taxpayers of the city on what their money is doing. How many houses have sold? What is the sale price in relation to the assessment value? What is the sale price in response to the original listing price.
Even nice homes in nicer areas of the city won't sell because NO ONE, including DV, is willing to buy a house in the city! Not even with a handout! And this dimwit mayor things that people are going to buy the delinquent houses?
Where is his brain?
