Duo faces prison for stealing 8 packs of smokes
By Bryan Fitzgerald
Updated 02:24 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012

TROY - A Clifton Park man and a city woman both face 40 years in prison for their alleged roles in the knifepoint robbery of a corner store that netted eight packs of cigarettes, police said.

The robbery unfolded at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, when Kevin Pooler barged into LeBeau's Grocery at 350 Fourth St. cloaked in a ski mask wielding a large kitchen knife and demanded cash, Capt. John Cooney said.

The clerk fought off Pooler, who swiped eight packs of cigarettes before he ran off, Cooney said.

Police became suspicious when they interviewed one female suspect, Pamela Richardson, who said she saw "nothing of value to the investigation" and quickly left the scene, the police spokesman said.

Officers then quietly watched Richardson climb into Pooler's car, Cooney said. Police then stopped the car, allegedly found the cigarettes and the mask inside and arrested both of them. Richardson allegedly admitted to being Pooler's accomplice.

What's 8 packs cost now, like $2K?

Don't you think that armed robbery is a serious crime even if nothing was stolen?

People have gotten less time in prison for committing murder not a just sentence.

The story says they COULD get 40 years, not that they DID get 40 years.

We'll have to look at thier voting record.

If they voted (D): Well then they made a 'mistake' or a 'misjudgement' and totally get off (if they have the required 'donation') or they can be simply be placed in the 'less fortunate' catagory (should they show some sort of promise or worth) and be sent to'rehab' and given either a very light sentance (to educate others) or probation

If they have NEVER voted or found to be a Independent or Libertarian: Well then they shall be given the option of 'rehab' or serious time (This will depend on how 'cooperative' the person is.)

If they have voted (R): Well then you are generally screwed and considered a neo-con/conservative/radical militant/religious zealot Christian and a 'enemy of the state'

It was an armed robbery, no different than if some jamoke stuck you up on the street with a knife, or gun.
Also, if you read the whole article, he punched the clerk in the face as well.

It was one hell of a lot more serious than just shoplifting 8 packs of cigarettes.
They're just really stupid people.
