Audit finds taxpayers are hardly getting a bargain when it comes to BOCES

The state's Boards of Cooperative Education Services are costing taxpayers far more than they are saving, according to a new state comptroller audit.

Though they claim to offer savings, BOCES do little to control costs in the non-instructional services they provide for school districts, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli found. In the four BOCES used as a representative sample, taxpayers ended up paying 56 percent more for the same services that could have been performed by a school district or private vendor. You mean to tell me... there's something that the government runs... and it's told to us that it's going to save money...   lots and lots of money...   and... IT DOESN'T!?!?!?!?!  


It's New York, so it must be Pataki's fault, or something mandated by that horrible George W. Bush that remains from his years, because with the Democrats in full control of everything, they're working on fixing this as quick as possible...
