Rotterdam bridge to close for repairs Staff report Published 03:40 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012
ROTTERDAM — The bridge connecting Becker Road to Interstate 88 at Exit 25 will close to traffic Monday.........................>>>>........................>>>>.............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....87.php#ixzz1tBCHM6SJ
This is the bridge exiting at Exit 25A coming to Route 7. You won't be able to get off the Thruway and get right to Rt. 7, without driving all the way out to Duanesburg. Also, if you want to get on I-88, you'll have to take Route 7 to Duanesburg before you can.
The Curry Rd and Helderberg Ave bridges are exactly 1' lower than the posted height. Why, I'll never understand - but if I watch the signs, my truck will never fit under it - fortunately it does.

Might have something to do with repaving etc. ...............and the earth is constantly moving so there's always the possibility that the bridges sunk..........and of course there's always the possibility that the guy doing the measuring doesn't know how to read a tape measure...............
I remember several years ago, the mgr at Stewart's told me it was intentionally marked wrong. It made no sense to him or me, but whatever, I can get under it, that's all I care about

HEHEHEHEHEHE...............whenever I hear the Helderberg Ave. bridge mentioned, I always think back to when I was a kid and the crazy stuff me and my friends used to do over there.

What ever happened to the house on the far side of the tracks - toward the Stewart's side of Helderberg? It was there - then gone. The property isn't for sale, it's just sitting with no house there.
My fathers 3rd wife (or 4th) owned it for a while, but then it just disappeared

Ya know I don't know..............was there one day then poof................................when we were kids, the owners went on vacation one time and when they came back it was vandalized pretty bad.......................I've never told this story anywhere before, but since it's been nearly 60 years since the incident I guess it's okay to tell (pretty sure the statute of limitations has run out)..................I heard about what happened, and a few days later my best buddy swore me to secrecy and told me that he and a bunch of the other kids in the neighborhood had broke in and trashed the place..........it was basically destroyed, tore the banisters down, punched holes in the walls and.....well let's leave it there........that house was never the same......not long after the owners moved and it sat vacant for a long time........"Tales of the Helderberg Avenue Gang"
