Leave it to DV to have a wild imagination.   Why are we not surprised?

So, when they leave these temp jobs, does unemployment kick in for the $42.34 per hour? I mean, will the County eventually get stiffed for the unemployment for the 65 people after the summer?

Just wondering.....

Why aren't these jobs a normal wage, would last a longer time and eventually get people OFF of unemployment, but that would require a thought process ....

Unions dictate wages! Must be a 'rate job'..........and the taxpayers foot the bill!
Happens all the time. Any government project...including schools are 'rate jobs' with rates being dictated by the unions.
It's mandated by the state.
Cozy...huh?

I have a hard time believing that what equates to $87K a year is the going rate for a unskilled laborer.  This is WASTE and a gross distortion of free markets.

Exactly!! and the prevailing wage bullshit keeps many small contractors from bidding on jobs........this I know first hand...................but then we really shouldn't complain, 'cause we all know how much good the unions have done.

This is probably why we would never see a WPA type project system to put people back to work like existed in the 30's.   The union lobbyists would never allow non-union labor to do the union jobs for less $$$$$ regardless if the quality of work was the same.   You could put more people back to work in these situations if the unions did not block the way with the lobbyists.   Whats wrong with putting 2 people back to work for $20+ per hr. and feed 2 families and maybe getting 2 people off UE/Welare albeit temporarily.   Spread it around.   Give hope to 2 families.   Can't put a price on hope.   Also you'll never see a WPA type system again due to the fact the Liability Ins. would be astronomical.   The Hoover Dam/Golden Gate Bridge were built for cheap wages with limited ins. coverage for the workers.   In fact workers waiting to work hung out by the sites waiting for the next fatality, so they would  be there to take the next job opening.   The Kaiser Health care plan was spawned from the building of the Hoover Dam.

ALL of the billions in stimulus money went to GOVERNMENT PROJECTS! That means that ALL of those jobs were 'rate jobs' dictated by the unions and mandated by the states!!!

Example.....Did the school in your district get a face-lift of some kind with the stimulus money over the past 2 years? You, THE TAXPAYER, paid DOUBLE per hour for that work! Instead of paying the non union rate of approx. $25-ish dollars/hour...your were paying $45-ish/hour....YUP YOU WERE!! Hence....more money in the Union Boss' pocket and less money in yours!!!! It happens in all levels of government. If the government funds it, it's considered a 'union rate job'!!!!!

And keep in mind how the unions are also exempt from obamacare!!!

Cozy, huh?
