#Two Schenectady residents were found with a cornucopia of drugs following a Thruway traffic stop in the Town of New Baltimore.
#State Police on Monday, March 19, at approximately 9:53 p.m., stopped a northbound vehicle on the state Thruway for a traffic violation. After stopping the vehicle, police allegedly found 14.9 ounces of crack cocaine, 5.5 ounces of cocaine, 1,000 glassine envelopes of heroin and a small bag of marijuana, according to police reports.
#The driver of the vehicle Erica Danzy, 29, of Broadway, Schenectady, and the passenger Teddy Pulliam, 44, of Dean Street, Schenectady, were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a Class A-I felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a Class A-II felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana.................>>>>....................>>>>........................http://www.schenectadyspotligh.....ollowing-traffic-st/
Nothing new. Schenectady is the drug destination of the state. What's up with the lack of drug raids by the dems? Oh yeah, they prefer spending the taxpayers money by giving it to their well heeled and/or politically connected friends in and for downtown. To heck with the over-taxed financially struggling taxpayers and their neighborhoods. And the best thing these current leaders can come up with is a stupid bus tour of a small handful of houses that are for sale (nicer houses in the nicest areas of the city).
Why does the city's current leadership avoid spending money in the neighborhoods to conduct the numerous drug raids that used to be done.
Gosh, remember November 1993 when 500+ staff from all levels of law enforcement conducted massive raids, arresting roughly 100 people, after wisely using the taxpayers' money for all that undercover work that successfully lead up to that massive raid.
And while that was an incredibly huge raid, the taxpayers money was used wisely in the many other small raids, raids regularly conducted. August 1993 there were 36 arrested, mid april 1994 there was 19 arrested, December 94 a bunch "down the road" from this board's resident cheerleader for hiking taxes, November 95 a raid bringing in 20, December 95 bringing in 10. And of course you can find raids with smaller numbers too.
Why no persistent raids today? Oh yeah, the current city leaders ignore the neighborhoods where the taxpayers live, instead, they steal from the taxpayers and give the money to the millioniares downtown
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Now let's see what plea deal the courts will drum up!

Federal sentencing guidelines are a lot more severe than local sentences. They prosecute the more serious drug cases (e.g. drug gangs/groups). They would not deal with your typical case of a local dealer selling small quantities on the street.
My personal opinion is that Drug Court sometimes gets abused. If an addict is used as a runner for a drug dealer - that case may be suitable for diversion into treatment. But, there is some evidence that non-addicted dealers have feigned addiction, which in turn, allowed them to get unreasonably lenient sentences

The whole system makes no sense. The addicted get let out early which leads them back into drugs. We provide a GED and cooking class in jail but not treatment? The judges are lenient plain and simple. They are weak and unattached.
Turn the Armory into another jail and fill it up. Get them off the street. Zero tolerance.
