There is no need to read the gossipy, negative, UNINFORMED rants and chirpings of Catholic-bashers like mobileterminal, grahambonnet, joebxer and mikechristine -- they have one motivation in life and that is to act like a bunch of school-yard bullies and terrorists hell-bent on destroying anything positive and good in the community. They offer NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE .. NOTHING BASED ON ACTUAL FACT .. and therefore I and many others have chosen to block their messages. It is a waste of time and energy to even read the malicous and ignorant crap that they spew.
ONE person and his imaginery friends "block our messages" - why, it obviously hurts to read the truth.
But then, when one does not sign in under their user name, one can read all those "blocked messages."
So, DV, I guess you are more informed than the parents of the school, yes?
Sorry, new user named "Parent," but this is an alleged Catholic who knows nothing about being a parent and spewes obsenities at all of us who have different opinions. DV---as an alleged Catholic---won't even respond to whether Jesus would support raising taxes on the financially struggling homeowners in Schenectady in order to exempt the millionaires and politically connected downtown (in case you're not in the city, this is a city which pays almost the highest taxes - combined fees, property & school taxes in the whole U.S.). Downtown has the Hilton family, the Forbes multi-billionaire Paul Mitchell, the millionaire Malozzi family, and all sorts of other wealth and/or politically connected for-profit businesses, built largely at taxpayer expense and totally exempt from paying property and school taxes, most of which have no end date; along with bestowing hundreds of thousands of taxpaayer dollars on tax deinquents. And homeonwers are losing their homes and property values plummet. It's no wonder people can't afford tuition.
I do understand the need for tuition at higher amounts, but it's quite obvious the pastor has eliminated many fundraisers that could have kept the school open.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
This is truly a sad situation. And yes...miracles can happen. I hope this turns out to be a positive for these kids.
The catholic church has more money than God. Perhaps they could front some money since it was 'one of their own' that botched this up to begin with.....yes?

How about McC rally those the super rich tax exempt millionaires and politically connected downtown to each contribute a penny on the dollar of their wealth, that could keep the school open throughout the century perhaps.
Come on, the people in city are entitled to get something back from those rich downtown, don't they?
Oh, now watch Dv and his imaginery friends reply with obscenties

HAVE POSTED INFO FOR SAVE THE ST JOHN EVANGELIST SCHOOL ON FACEBOOK PAGE...
LET US ALL WORK TOGETHER ON THIS EFFORT.....
Yes, "build it up" as DV tells people to do. Let's see what DV does to help St John's. Let's see if he signs the petition. ROFL !!!!!!!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Who cares what DV thinks or states....doesn't matter to me.....does it really matter to you???
Don't put the cause in the toilet referring to anything DV or Ham has to say....
Definitely have a point there. But, in the absence of the pastor who fled the country, and since DV claims to know all these facts (but he cannot explain why the pastor eliminated the biggest fundraiser for the school), ya have to wonder. For sure he'll be listening to the show today, but will never admit it, maybe Al should call out to him and ask him to call in with his facts

SCHENECTADY — A group is organizing an online effort to save St. John the Evangelist School from closing. The Albany Roman Catholic Diocese is closing the school at the end of the school year because of low enrollment and rising expenses. The school was only projected to have 84 students in the next school year. Diocesan officials said the parish was heavily subsidizing the school because the roughly $3,700-per-year tuition wasn’t enough to cover the more than $6,000 it takes to educate each student. A website, Facebook page and email address have been established to support the school. A webpage at http://tinyurl. com/793ots6 asks people to indicate if they would be willing to help fi nancially support the school for three years. To lend support to the campaign, people can also send an email to SaveSJE@GMail.com or visit the Facebook page Save Our School-St. John the Evangelist School.

Your misinformed statements and allegations show the bigoted, anti-Catholic venom that is spewing from you and the other Nayboobs.
The Catholic Church does not have more money than God -- like any other religious group (Evangelical, Jewish, Protestant, etc) any money the church has comes from DONATIONS from its members and others who value it.
Your attempt to blame a single person for the closure is also reprehensible and ill-informed. The FACT is that the school closed to due to low enrollment ----- no person can force parents to enroll their children in a Catholic School.

NO DV, YOU ar ethe one who is ill informed. Yes, enrollment is down because parents can't afforde the tuition and the tuition is going up because the PASTOR does NOT want a school!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pastor does two churches. St John's and St Anthony's. He closed St Anthony's and now he's closing St John's. One piece of the story has been that there was an increasing need for the "parish" to subsidize the school. Well DUH, isn't the school part of the parish? HELLO! So OK, funds are coming out of the account for the "parish" to give it to the "school."
Then WHY did the pastor put a stop to the major fundraiser for the school ? ? ? ? ? ? DV, you RFUSE to answer that question. WHY ????????? Why did the pastor flee the country rather than face his flock??????
That high school student on the radio the other day spoke of other fundraisers too that would bring in some decent income. The other day we remembered another fundraiser they had years ago---BEFORE the current pastor---because we remember buying a ticket, it was for a new car, it was $5 per ticket, but even 2,000 tickets sold would generate $10,000. (car is dontated of course)
See, DV, you are not, never have been, and never will be a parent, so you are totally ILL-INFORMED when it comes to parenting and issues of concerns to parents.
And DV, if the pastor didn't take so much money for himself to be fleeing the country every year and taking off to Texas for several months (yes MONTH's), maybe there would be money for the school

The enrollment at St John's was 84. I have been told that the enrollment at Madeline Sophie was 88 (until St John's parents started moving there of course). The difference is that Madeline Sophie has greater support from the parish priest. They also have large fundraisers that help ensure it's financial stability.
Ah, another person, obvously a parishoner and parent, who knows the real FACTS. Excerpt from the Times Union blog about St. John's
Quoted Text
The school is not closing because the school is bad. It’s closing because the priest does not stand by the school and families with similar ideas for their youth have moved from Schdy or can no longer afford the tuition due to the economy. When you don’t have a good leader who cares about the student body, then what’s the point? Although the principal dedicated the majority of her life to running SJE, the priest could care less if the school remain operable. SJE was told they had to charge a higher tuition than St. Helen’s, and Father Carlino (who is certainly no Father Doyle who is highly respected for his leadership and dedication to his parish) allowed St. Anthony’s (his preferred parish) to reopen a Kindergaten, taking away from St. John’s. If St. John’s could have Father Provost back, I guarantee the enrollment figure would still be thriving

Looks like St. Helen's and St. Madeline's will have a higher enrollment in Sept......yes?
