My son and I went to Nott Terrace Stewarts and a guy told him there was a large fire on Union. When we had left our house on the hill we thought we saw smoke or a large white cloud, when we got home could smell the smoke all the way here.

By: Web Staff

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- An early morning fire in Schenectady heavily damages a building on Union Street.

Fire officials said the call came in just after 5 a.m. Smoke was pouring out of the windows.

They said while this restaurant is closed, people were living in the apartments above.
No reports of any injuries, but firefighters do say a woman and her child are unaccounted for.

There are tearing it down right now, as we "speak", just a few fireman, a bulldozer and a couple suits.

I trust that most of you heard how there was initially concern for a woman and child, but then someone was interviewed saying the woman and child moved out because the building was, what?   "In foreclosure"    What else is new in the city   DUH.

It's the renaissance, folks.

Now what?    The dems owe the taxpayers of the city an answer to whether the building's owner carried insurance.   Or are the dems stealing from the homeowners again to pay for the cost of the demolition????

What I found interesting was that this was happening on Sunday - usually they wait until a weekday when information can be verified with insurance companies, banks, etc.  I'm guessing the city is footing the initial bill for the demolition?

If the cause is still under investigation, why the rush to tear it down? Who owns or owned this building and WHO is carrying the fire insurance?

I'm sure we will be called nayboobs who are against safety by the "experts'  (government bureaucrats and their blow job squad members) fir asking WHY do this if you haven't undertaken a complete inbvestigation and WHY on Sunday. There are other houses that burned months or years ago still standing that the city couldnt give a fart about. But we are unpatriotic and nayboobs for asking! LOL!

The powers to be don't care about the house on Cutler St. because you can't see it from downtown.

Could have been a safety issue - tear it down because it posed a safety risk?

And, was it City employees doing the demolition or  a private contractor?
