Obama to blame for gas, grocery prices

February 28, 2012
The Leader Herald

If you're upset by rising gas prices and related increases in grocery costs, blame President Barack Obama - a guy who loves to blame everyone else for his failures.

America has abundant energy resources for hundreds of years - oil and gas, coal, nuclear and so on.
Obama has blocked the Keystone Pipeline from Canada, offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and drilling on a very small tract in Alaska that would provide billion of gallons of gas and cubic feet of natural gas. That's not counting the thousands of American jobs and tax revenue that are being lost. Obama can immediately change that by the stroke of a pen.

No president should have to bow to the Saudi king, as Obama did, nor do we have to remain captive to people who hate us because we need their crude oil.

Since the early 1970s Arab oil embargo, no administration, since President Ronald Reagan's, has been aggressive enough on American energy independence. Obama is at the helm now and has to stop blaming everyone else. House Republicans have passed bills to open up our resources, only to be stymied by Obama and the Democrats.

Obama's regulations have been making it harder for us to use our own energy, including coal as well as oil and gas. Remember, as 2008 presidential candidate, Obama promised to make our electric bills "necessarily skyrocket." Hope and change?

Either demand that we use our own energy resources or hoist a sail on your car.

Bernanke wants to print more dollars so the problem with high prices for gas, energy, and food are only going to get worse.

EXACTLY!!! Some economists are saying that our inflation rate is presently at 8%.
Either Bernanke is really stupid and needs to resign......or he is as dumb as a fox and knows exactly what he is doing and where this is all headed.

I'm no fan of Obama, but the claim that if we develop our natural resources, we will have cheap energy is absolute fantasy. Right now, the US is the 13th largest EXPORTER of oil. We export 1.7 million barrels of oil a day. Just because the oil comes out of US ground, the companies that drill for have no obligation to sell it here. And obviously, they don't. More oil production here will probably only mean even more exporting.

Now, if the US enacted a huge tariff on US oil that leaves for export, then you would have a different scenario.

The environmentalists on the left have blocked every attempt to build an oil refinery for the last 25 years so no matter how much oil we have we can only refine so much into gasoline. Watch what happens right after the government prints more money, the price of food, gas, and anything that has to be transported by truck will go up in price.

Since there is no actual shortage of gasoline... the price increases are mostly artificial.
One major reason for the spike in gas prices...
Is the spike in Right Wing speculation about attacking a major Oil Producing Country.  Iran.

It more complex that that...
Not only have we not built a refinery in the last 25 years, several of them have closed...some due to age, some due to not being profitable. Add to that, the pick up in Economic activity and the tensions in the world and you have increased prices. US gas prices have been artificially low for a long time. $3.50 a gallon will be a distant memory.

I see it differently. The problem isn't 'lack of energy resources' TOTALLY!!

It is mainly due to our devalued dollar. It is clearly not buying what it use to.

High prices are the result of easy money...............the main reason for rising gas prices is our monetary policy, It's pretty simple here.......oil is traded in dollars, and its price rises when the value of the dollar falls. The more we print.....the less the dollar is worth......the more prices rise.....ON EVERYTHING!!!

The fed has already said that it will continue to  weaken the dollar with its easy 'print more money policy through 2014.....and it will be WE the americans  that will suffer the consequences every time we buy gas, or groceries. Just printing more money is clearly not a 'built to last' solution.
IMHO

Just to update you, I think it's now closer to 35-40 years, not 25, but the rest is spot on.
