Sounds great -- another sign of the Democrat-led RENAISSANCE in Schenectady County.

Mayor Gary McCarthy said, “We welcome this latest investment by the Galesi Group..."

WHAT investment????

409 State Street, Tax ID #39.72-2-37
Roll Section: Wholly Exem
Total assessment: $1,279,500

The only money is going into Galesi's pocket. It would be better if people came to Schenectady to BUY HOUSES, MAKE AN INVESTMENT....but the only people who can afford City living are the tax-exempt Galesi's and the Section 8 renters.

Making a bad situation worse!! McCarthy needs to go back to school...economics 101 is sorely needed.

EXEMPTION.....SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED  .....AT ALL...

and I have to prove mine for Town taxes......and federal, state, to boot......

and if I am Galesi or a billionaire....I get a break.......makes sense to me.....

It's so pathetic the epic failure of the Open Houses that McCarthy has to hid behind Galesi to try to bring renters into the City.

These lofts are going to do absolutely nothing for the other homeowners of the City as they will eat away taxpayer money. The garbage, water and protection will be paid for by the taxpayers.

Your welcome.

There are folks who 'attempted' to rent one of the lofts downtown.
They had to move out!!! Crime was rampant. They wouldn't leave the place at night.
They didn't feel safe even during the day.
No place to park.
Car break-ins.
Drug addicts and drunks everywhere!
They eventually  moved right out of schenectady county!!
TRUE STORY!!!

And the lofts start upwards of $1500 per month + utilities!

Anyone see the buildings going up on the corner of Barret and Union.  Great construction 2 by 4 walls.  Most mobile homes these days are built better with 2 by 6s!

Haha thanks.
The kids I associate myself with are all kids whose families were brought up deep in the roots of old time Schenectady. Since then our families have moved out to the Rotterdam area, but we all share the same disgust for how the city is rotting away and are in hopes that change could be made.
We have all jokingly discussed the idea of the group of us all renting out places on the same block or street and setting up shop and cleaning it up. Almost like a Guardian Angel type group. Show our face, get the word out, and maybe curb some crime.
Could be wishful thinking, but it might be worth a shot.

Take it from me, the taxes will destroy you. Unless you cut a deal with the big-boys and make some donations to the cause. It doesn't seem like you are a suck up so I doubt you become one of their chumps that easily, like others who have "fallen in line" once the deals were cut.
