Sealed Air Corporation will lay off 70 workers and close its facility at the Glenville Business Park, officials announced. This will empty another 300,000 square feet in 3 separate buildings. All work will be shifted to plants in Louisville, KY and Holyoke. MA. Another loss of needed blue collar jobs for the County which has lost thousands of private sector jobs in the past 2 years. Great job Death Ray! No one from any of the 7 County "unified" economic development groups had any comment.

These were more or less unskilled jobs -- the future of our City is high tech..   Only idiots and Nayboobs do NOT understand how the world is changing for the better and our City is undergoing a restructuring and rebirth..

If any one is an idiot ...that would be you DVOR......an intelligent and responsible person

would take any job right now.....whether is be sweeping floors or high tech which is not

available here right now....maybe you don't have to feed your family....but others do...and don't

have the luxury of "hotel like factilities", whereas, room service, maid service is available....

So keep your stupid mouth shut and don't think you are above what blue collar job is needed

or not......no wonder you have to sleep under a rock....

So where are these alleged high tech jobs? At the old ALCO? How about Stratton's stunad high dreck corridor on Erie Blvd? LOL! We need those blue collar jobs. We need ANY jobs.

The DEMS once again show their total and complete contempt for the working class that they have pushed out of this County with their sickening taxes and broken government schools. BTW, add 70 jobs to the 2,000 Metrograft/County DEMS/Idiot IDA's/DSIC have pushed out of this County since 2010.

a rebirth? More like afterbirth.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

No, Benny, remember, the jobs were going to go where the Super Wal-Mart was kicked out of.  Noticed that they finally went ahead and started ripping down that horrible building that was on that land.  I guess since it's time to put up the apartments that will sit empty, they need to knock it down.

Stratton and Death Ray repeatedly lied about high dreck jobs coming to Erie Blvd. That was why the ten million dollar flush to narrow Erie was needed. Fix Erie Now? WTF! Nothing happened but more businesses fled. The car wash, Pentagon, gin mill, hardware store, Trustco HQ, Kem cleaners, Olenders, Silver Diner have all rotted. Then the idiots said they needed more surface parking. For what? Right the DSS offices by GE. They are expanding by leaps and bounds. We don't need no stinking private sector jobs here. We gots Metrograft and "planner" Death Ray!

Quoted from Hamburg
These were more or less unskilled jobs -- the future of our City is high tech..

Wrong.

With every municipality trying this trick to lure employers, in this economy and these ridiculous federal + state + property + school taxes + sales + soon some sort of VAT...

It's going to be harder and harder for these incentives to continue.  McCarthy was supposed to win by a landslide, remember?  That didn't happen because Metroplex is a failure, and the blight can be seen all over this city with the exception of downtown.

When it comes to new jobs... it will come down to where the best tax advantages are, the best resources - for plants, things such as water are important, and workers.

The only thing we have going for us there is our aquifer.
