That was well before my time I guess ... too bad it never got resurrected.

On a side note, I noticed the Model Train shop next to the camera shop at the corner of state & erie is now closed/for lease

And between that and the State Theater is now a convienence store, where the old Votis Pipe Shop was.   Guess this is what the Plex had in mind for that part of downtown, being the next phase of devl. for that lower block.

Ah, the good old days when downtown was a destination full of shops, retail, services, good food (not pre-frozen fast food), theaters, entertainment and a REASON to come downtown for the day.

Sad that it's been gone for so many years.

Also gone for many years in Troy, in Gloversville, in Albany, in Amsterdam, in just about every city...
You do realize that Schdy is typical of the rest of the State and most of the country.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

No. not most of the country. I travel to high-growth, low tax red states all the time where there is incredible vibrancy and young people want to live and start businesses without the NYS Geheime Staatspolizei kicking the door in.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Obviously Tom, you don't get out much.  Try visiting Saratoga, Ballston Spa, Lake George Village, Saranac, Syracuse ... then get out of the state, MANY small towns/cities are redeveloping and re-opening downtowns across the country.  I know, where I live, downtown is once again a thriving area with things to do, a reason to come in and enough to keep the whole family entertained for the day ... not bad for a small country town.

malls have an advantage in that their locations preclude some ofbtge problems dowton urban mercgants have

saratoga I dont know if tgat dowtown survives without the summer track business
