When Frank Sinatra died, they flew the flag at half staff... no RIGHTIES complained.
When John Wayne died, the flew the flag at half staff... NO RIGHTIES complained.

SO why no complaints when other notables are honored, and Huston brings so many complaints???
Um... Lets see... White singer dies... no problem.  White actor dies... no problem.  Black singer dies... BIG PROBLEM

at the time I was too young to care...but now.....I'd think what I think now.....

never should have been flown for ANY actor/singer.....that would mean that EVERY single police officer/detroit car worker/union leader/school teacher etc etc should have the same....

like I've always said, the elbow rubbing of hollywood and leaders is PATHETIC......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Are you really playing the race card here

sorry this is not meant to be racist....opinions count....and in these times

anything goes....not being disrespectful....but....

protesting a military funeral   is by far a greater injustice than this memorial for Whitney..

Whitney Houston critic was a little too harsh

Re Feb. 22 letter, “Honoring of Whitney Houston was distasteful,” by David DeVries: While I do agree that much of the hoopla surrounding her funeral seemed over the top, I also think that using such epithets as “obscene” and “criminal” to describe her life and death are also over the top.
Do you really want to get in bed with [Fox News political commentator] Bill O’Reilly and people of that ilk? I found the more human approach by [MSNBC political analyst] Lawrence D’Donnell in a recent show a lot more meaningful.
Yes, all of us should be responsible for our own lives, and yes, individual choice does play an important part in how we live our lives and treat those around us. But to ignore environmental factors such as the high price media stars like Whitney Houston pay for their celebrity, much less the very real addictive power of hard drugs, is to miss the point and indulge in moralistic fi nger pointing, something the hard right is very good at.
While I was never a big fan of Whitney Houston, I did appreciate the power of her voice and the success she enjoyed, and casting aspersions on her after her death, as Bill O’Reilly has done, seems unseemly at the very least.
Having a serious conversation about hard drugs and their effect on celebrities like Whitney Houston and others is something we ought to have, and there I find common ground with O’Reilly, which doesn’t happen very often! Throwing around words like “obscene,” “criminal,” “lowlifes,” and “absurd” misses the point and doesn’t get us very far.

and that's because people do not understand what addiction is all about......and it's not just celebrities...addiction effects all

people in all kinds of life.....and they culd very well be a neighbor, friend, relative....

So be gentle and educate educate educate about the power of drugs and what effect they have .....

Street drugs on prominent and easily accessible......it doesn't take much to find the drug of your choice.....and in this Town, City

and County.....wake up and fight the drug war.....

WITH REGRET

We idolized and memorialized Whitney Houston, yet looked the other way concerning her well-known substance abuse and tumultuous life with singer Bobby Brown.

Charlie Sheen is 45 and his story is all over the news because he is a
substance abuser, an adulterer, sexually promiscuous and obnoxious.

Lindsay Lohan is 24 and her story is all over the news because she is a
celebrity drug addict and thief.

Something as frivolous as Kim Kardashian's stupid wedding (and
short-lived marriage) was shoved down our throats, while........

Justin Allen 23
Brett Linley 29
Matthew Weikert 29
Justus Bartett 27
Dave Santos 21
Jesse Reed 26
Matthew Johnson 21
Zachary Fisher 24
Brandon King 23
Christopher Goeke 23
and Sheldon Tate 27...

...are all Marines who gave their lives last month for you. There is no
media for them; not even a mention of their names.
They were young men who most likely came from rural America seeking a chance
to better themselves and to serve this country.

Rest In Peace, and THANK YOU,TROOPS.
