Breaking News: Whitney Houston dies at age 48
By: AP Wire Service
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

At her peak in the 1980s and `90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists. Among her hits were "How Will I Know,'' "Saving All My Love for You'' and "I Will Always Love You.''

She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies like "The Bodyguard.''

But by the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse.

Just saw this on google news very sad. Some people were writing horrible comments. She was at a pre Grammy event last night and I guess acting erratic, so people assumed drugs, but could've been a medical issue like a mini stroke......

Loved her in the bodyguard.

Many great singers leave early. RIP

REALLY???

Quoted Text
The pop star had recorded the vocal weeks before in a Los Angeles studio and lip-synched the song at the Super Bowl, but few in the crowd of 73,000 or the 110 million watching at home seemed to notice.

The least we can do is memorialize her by naming a war ship after her.

In more over the top ridiculousness, Gov Christie ordered all Government flags to fly at half staff on Saturday in honor of Whitney Houston.

We have soldiers coming home in coffins, yet the gov chooses to honor a "cultural icon" who destroyed her own life with drugs and Alcohol instead?
