Last year, a federal program paid out $1.6 billion to cover free cell phones and the monthly bills of 12.5 million wireless accounts. The program, overseen by the FCC and intended to help low-income Americans, is popular for obvious reasons, with participation rising steeply since 2008, when the government paid $772 million for phones and monthly bills. We 'personally' know of 2 people who live in Albany who are getting these 'free phone' and they are well over qualified. They actually told the person who took their applications. BUT.....in less then 2 weeks....they had their phones!!!!! Ain't the competence of the government great?????  |

I also know of someone that works full time who has one of these phones. This program is out of control and a waste of money. Cut it! |

It's a 'business' if you will. They actually told these folks from Albany, that the more they 'give-a-way' the more funding they will get. And they get paid to dole out these free phones. It's those false 'stats' that the 'mentally ill' know are a lie!  |
