Catholic League Poised To Go To War With Obama Over Mandatory Birth Control Payments
Donohue Says 70 Million Of His Voters Ready To Alter Presidential Election

February 6, 2012 7:44 PM

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Catholic leaders upped the ante Monday, threatening to challenge the Obama administration over a provision of the new health care law that would require all employers, including religious institutions, to pay for birth control.

As CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer reports, it could affect the presidential elections.

Catholic leaders are furious and determined to harness the voting power of the nation’s 70 million Catholic voters to stop a provision of President Barack Obama’s new heath car reform bill that will force Catholic schools, hospitals and charities to buy birth control pills, abortion-producing drugs and sterilization coverage for their employees...................................>>>>....................>>>>..................http://newyork.cbslocal.com/20.....th-control-payments/

One problem... The majority of Catholics practice birth control and approve of legal abortion.  I wouldn't count on those
70 million Catholic votes... especially since many of them will benefit by this program.

At least Obama has everybody polarized on a social issue.  Keeps people from talking about the economy and his record.  Mission Accomplished!  Americans are easily distracted by manufactured drama.

Religion and sex, the two things liberals believe government should be separate from.  Except when they want to create a political carnival as a distraction.

Fred Dicker had a good guest on this morning who spoke about this very issue.  President Obama has riled up Catholic voters and risks alienating them.   The Catholic vote has provided the margin of victory in some key "swing states" in recent elections.   For example, Ronald Reagan won New York in 1980 and 1984 due to his garnering strong support among "Reagan Democrats" (many of whom are Catholics).   In 2012, many of these "Reagan Democrats" may become  "Santorum Democrats" or even - begrudgingly - "Romney Democrats".

My prediction is that Rick Santorum WILL be on the Republican national ticket in November  - either in the #1 or #2 spot.   I will further predict that social issues will be just as crucial as the economy in the fall -------- with the net result that the GOP will win key states like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that such a result will mean a Republican in the White House on January 20, 2013.

From The Nation’s Largest Catholic University(DePaul University):
" We Offer ‘A Prescription Contraceptive Benefit",
Other Catholic colleges and hospitals, including Georgetown and the six former Caritas Christi Catholic hospitals in
Massachusetts, also offer birth control benefits.

Twenty-eight states already require employers, including most religiously affiliated institutions, to cover contraception
in their health plans. The only change is that now they must cover the full cost.

So I suppose if 28 states passed laws requiring Jewish people to eat pork and Hindus to eat beef -- you would be ok with that -- because after all a majority of states require it   ???????????????????????????????

NO one is "requiring Jews to eat pork, Hindus to eat beef, or Catholics to use Birth Control" (although the majority of
Catholics already do).
This is a requirement for all employers requiring a common benefit already offered by many Catholic employers,
to cover birth control drugs.  NO one is forced to eat pork, beef or use birth control, no matter how much you
wish they were.

How about a federal law forcing Kosher Deili's to sell non Kosher meats?  After all, if the majority of Jewish people don't eat Kosher, might as well mandate they offer non kosher.  Nobody is forcing the customers to eat non kosher, but in fairness, it should be offered.

How about mandating Halal meat markets sell non-halal meat?  Is that ok?

Ummm... Someone tell Cicero that this law pertains to health insurance regulations... Not Kosher products.
(He's so easily confused)

No, it's about forcing an organization to offer a product that is not in line with their church doctrine.  It is about FREEDOM.  Halal and Kosher markets offer a prodcut and run their business based on religious doctrine, why not force them to conform to secular government standards and offer non-kosher and non-halal foods?   The line keeps on moving, as the government keeps on encroaching...and this time it's disquised as "women's health".

The totalitarians march on........
