One problem Box, hospitals can't refuse care for anyone even those without money. Medicaid covers the poor, and there are also free clinics which also supply care for the poor. Too bad you don't live close to Schenectady Box, you could see the endless line of people entering the DSS building at the foot of Bway hill where they hand out welfare, medicaid, phones, and free rent to all who enter. There's no such thing as uninsured unless it's by choice.

There you go again Shadow... giving your opinion as if it were fact.
Your statement is incorrect.
Hospitals are required to give anyone EMERGENCY CARE!    A hospital is required to treat
anyone for an emergency condition.  If you're dying from a heart attack, they must treat you and stabilize you.  BUT
once you are no longer in a life threatening condition... they can dismiss you.
A heart bypass may be what you need to prevent you from dying from heart disease, but they are not required to
provide one with out insurance or enough dollars to pay for it.
If you need a knee surgery, a hip replacement, if you have a stabilized brain tumor, or have cancer that needs
treatment, but you are stabilized... they are not required to treat you beyond an emergency condition.

You forgot the Medicaid program which would pay for all you mentioned. There are programs in place right now to take care of those who can't afford care.

You are doing it once again Shadow.  This seems to be your normal method of posting...
You offer your opinion as if it were fact.

If my job pays more than  $4.23 an hour, ($170 a week, $8,818 per year) I'm not eligible for Meidcare.

so back to my original post...

New York Medicaid Program
The Medicaid program in New York is for residents of the State of New York that can't afford to pay for their medical care. During 2010, there were about 4.6 million New York residents eligible for Medicaid coverage. New York spends $48 billion a year on Medicaid, the most of any other State.

In New York State, health insurance is available for most uninsured children under the age of 19 through either Medicaid or Child Health Plus. Most children living in New York are eligible regardless of their family income or the immigration status of the child.

Health Insurance is also available to most New York residents between the ages of 19 and 64, who have a limited income and who are citizens or fall within many of the immigration categories. These health insurance programs are through Medicaid or Family Health Plus.

New York residents that are age 65 or older, certified blind, or certified disabled that have limited income or financial resources may qualify for health insurance through Medicaid.

In order to qualify for Medicaid in New York, you need to have medical bills that you can not pay, you receive supplemental Security Income (SSI), or you meet certain financial criteria.

There are other programs under the NYS Medicaid system that will provide hospital care if you make more than the amount to be elegible for full care.  http://www.health.ny.gov/healt.....nbsp;  Who can join?

Family Health Plus is available to single adults, couples without children, and parents. You must have limited income; be aged 19 to 64, a resident of New York State and a United States citizen or fall under one of many immigration categories. If you have health insurance through a federal benefit plan, you are not eligible to enroll.

If you have employer–sponsored health insurance available through other types of employers you may be eligible for help to pay for premiums, deductibles, coinsurance and co-payments through the Family health Plus Premium Assistance program.

The amount of income you and your family can have and still be eligible for Family Health Plus depends upon how many people are in your family.

For more details, use the ACCESS NY Public Health Insurance Eligibility Screening Tool to see which public health insurance programs you and your family may be eligible for. You can also click on a family size below and see if your income falls below the maximum levels for your family size.

By dollars paid, the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, with 20.8% for social security, compared to 20.5% for discretionary defense and 20.1% for Medicare/Medicaid.

FDR and LBJ are the two greatest presidents in American history -- the New Deal and the Great Society are the two most POSITIVE domestic policy initiatives in our country's history.  My only regret is that FDR did not choose to push through a National Health Insurance Plan back in the 1930's  --- but President Obama has corrected that mistake -- so all is well.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

So if you don't have limited income then you can afford health-care insurance if you choose to buy it, as I said before it choices we make in life.

Most Americans can't afford to buy health care if they make $8818 a year.  Americans with 'pre existing conditions' are
often charged $1500 a month for a high deductible policy.  The premiums of their health care would exceed their entire
income.

Saying it's so doesn't make it so Shadow.
