Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Just heard that the owner came forward. A college kid who said the dog ran away. He tried looking for him but had to go to a class and was going to go back out to look for the dog after the class.

SPCA officers don't get paid. They are all volunteers and are funded 100% by voluntary donations. Zero government funding. If there is one bright spot in Schenectady County and an organization not sponging off of the taxpayer, it is SPCA.

He has the vet bills, pictures, and tags to prove it. Meanwhile some scummy (probably a Craigs List flipper) woman tried to lay claim to it. Great Danes don't come cheap.
Schenectady could get the name "Schenectady, Home of the Worst Animal Abusers." Remember Oliver last year? And then the ones in the storage unit. And then being the type of owner that raises dogs to do what those pits did last year, multiple, unrelated incidents.
And it is said that the way someone treats an animal is how they treat humans too. Look at Frank Popolizio.
Think, it was an incident in Schenectady, a cat named Buster, that led to the first legislation in the state to punish such abusers. No thanks to the dems.

Amazing ain't it....to think that someone's dog runs away and it becomes MAJOR NEWS!!! And yet there are fights, gangs, drug deals and other crimes being committed everyday...and most just don't seem to find their way into the local lamestream media!

RENSSELAER — A cuddly, 115-pound Great Dane was reunited with his owners on Monday night. The gray giant stepped timidly into the lights of the TV news cameras and then wriggled in happiness as the Diaz family embraced and rubbed him.
"I'm glad he is OK," said dog owner Wilson Diaz.
Eeyore, the Great Dane, was found tied to a tree in the woods behind Schenectady Community College on Friday night. His leash was so short he was unable to lie down, said David Dean, chief of the Schenectady County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Diaz, a full-time culinary student at SCCC and part-time taxi driver, said he had brought Eeyore to school with him on Friday, but the muscular dog got away when Diaz slipped on the wet ground.
"Usually he comes back," Diaz said.
Diaz said he searched for 90 minutes, but gave up and returned to his house, where his three daughters were home sick.

Story still has so many holes in it.....full time student takes a great dane to school with him.....school either lets the students (Culinary student) keep the dogs with them in class or he kept the dog in his car.....he searches for it for 90 minutes.......then the dog all of a sudden is found tied up to a tree......
Dog was underwieight and dehydrated......animal cruelty tip.....person darting out of the woods......
Then they show the owner getting the dog back and do another feel good story, but dont question the guy on all these inconsistencies.
SCHENECTADY — A Great Dane described as a “gentle giant” was recovering Saturday after a rescue by a Schenectady County SPCA officer after receiving an animal cruelty tip. Steve Redmond, a sergeant with the county Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, followed the tip to a bike path behind Schenectady County Community College, where he saw a person dart out of the woods and run away. He ran after the fl eeing figure but did not apprehend the individual. Then he and SPCA Officer Matt Johnson heard a whimpering nearby. The sound came from a Great Dane that was tied to a tree a few feet from the river, shivering violently. The leash was so short that the dog couldn’t lie down. There was no shelter and the water from the river would splash against his feet, according to a report from David Dean, SPCA chief enforcement offi cer. After untying the dog they assessed that it was underweight and dehydrated. Johnson took the dog to his house and cared for it. “He ate four cups of dog food and drank a whole lot of water. The guy is such a gentle giant,” Johnson said in a statement. The Great Dane — now known as Duke — is now staying in temporary emergency housing and recovering well. Anyone with information about the dog can contact the SPCA at 755-9517 or can call city police.

So, the financially struggling homeowners are supposed to foot the bill for dorms for the students desptie the FACT that the city already has a WHOPPING, EXISTING 3,462 vacant apartments, and of course, that was as of a count taking almost two years ago, now, there are even more.
And now, the financially struggling homeowners are providing kennel service for dogs of their students? If that's not true, then what cheerleaders for the city would like to answer what a student from Renssleaer is going to do with his dog when he brings the dog onto school property while he is going to go to classes?
Gee, maybe the cafteria, any areas where meals are eaten or prepared, as well as the class rooms for the culinary program should be inspected big time
