Great Dane rescued near SCCC
Abused animal tied up, helpless

SCHENECTADY — A Great Dane described as a “gentle giant” was recovering Saturday after a rescue by a Schenectady County SPCA officer after receiving an animal cruelty tip.
Steve Redmond, a sergeant with the county Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, followed the tip to a bike path behind Schenectady County Community College, where he saw a person dart out of the woods and run away. He ran after the fl eeing figure but did not apprehend the individual. Then he and SPCA Officer Matt Johnson heard a whimpering nearby.
The sound came from a Great Dane that was tied to a tree a few feet from the river, shivering violently. The leash was so short that the dog couldn’t lie down. There was no shelter and the water from the river would splash against his feet, according to a report from David Dean, SPCA chief enforcement officer. ................>>>>..................>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01302&AppName=1

If they catch whoever did that to the dog the judge should sentence that person to live in the same conditions he left the dog in.

why not man up and take responsibility for the care of the animal...........the dog didn't pick it's owner, it was the other way around

obviously that would be preferable but if you are going to be irresponsible there was no reason to place the animal at risk

uhh.....so are you saying that someone acting in an irresponsible manner, in the middle of an irresponsible act (abandoning an animal) would suddenly become responsible and irresponsibly abandon an animal in a responsible manner......?????????

Another bu11shit story.  Guy comes out of the woods.....remember there are no leaves....then runs but can't be apprehended?.  Pretty hard to hid when there is no cover.  Also a great dane is a valuable animal....could be sold at any age...this story makes no sense.  Hard to believe this fluff job story....doesn't add up.

Exactly.  Not very many places to running when there is a river blocking a whole 180 degrees and 890 and guardrails, mud and thickets.  Again this wasn't a mutt that was abandoned either.  Wonder if Morris wrote the script on this one.  Such a feel good story.....
