There is NO evidence that Downtown is unsafe -- however there IS evidence to the contrary -- and in MY opinion it is one the nicest things about Schenectady County.......

AND THE RENAISSANCE GOES ON!

Why didn't you answer????    Where are the stores at which you can buy all the things I listed ?????

I personally believe that Downtown is one of the nicest places in the entire region and I DON'T have to answer any questions from a dastardly Nayboob JUST because I am for building our community UP -- whereas YOU would like to tear it DOWN.......

Build it up by increasing taxes on the homeonwers, yes?     And exempting the millioniares downtown from having to pay any property taxes

What happens when the homeowners have no more money left to pay the taxes?   Then who's going to pay for downtown?

I think I can speak for all of us here.....we all want a better downtown and a better city/county. But we don't want it 'falsely better'. We don't want it propped up with taxpayer's money. We don't want to be told, and expected to believe, that there were 5000 jobs created. That is just an out and out lie! We don't want to be told, and expected to believe, that 'any' of these 'few' businesses are here because Schenectady is the hot bed for business creation. The truth of the matter is...they are here for the freeride! And as far as DOT....they were 'never' created jobs....they were temporary transplants.

Anyone with a half a brain in the business world has the knowledge that you don't move a business to a location where 60% of the population is on welfare and expect to turn a profit!! The only way any of these businesses downtown are barely surviving is due to the lucrative tax exemptions.

Downtown might just as well be 'empty' since most DO NOT pay taxes anyway!! Downtown is a multi-million dollar MONEY PIT where the government picks and choses who will survive and who will not. And it is all done with the overburdened taxpayer's money.

The METROPLEX/GILLEN is an epic failure!!!

And trust me.........the DOT folks are grateful they are moving to wolf rd. They don't live in schenectady anyway. They  just don't like the hassle of the 'move itself'.

Oh -- and by the way -- many of the DOT workers are NOT happy to be leaving Downtown Schenectady for Wolf Road ...  WHY ?       BECAUSE THEY ENJOY WORKING THERE and are NOT crazy about working on Wolf Road.

Gee, what's the matter.   You can't find where any of the top people have chosen to buy a house in the city even after working here 9 year?

Well?

Maybe you should start admitting the TRUTH.......they DON'T WANT to be here!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they allegedly love working here, why aren't they buying houses in the city??????    Can you answer that??????

It must be the people pi$$ing and puking on the sidewalks...the panhandlers....the drug addicts/alcoholics who wander around downtown talking to themselves.....the stabbings.....shooting.....gangs........a failing school system....the 60% welfare population....the high taxes.....the crumbling infrastructure.

Sadly not even the multi-million dollar money pit proctors can persuade them to 'move on in'!

Don't forgot the murder at 8AM one block away and the empty OTB across the street where Mexican Radio and Wolff's 1-11 wisely decided not to locate. Metrograft is a total farce. A $100 MILLION attempt to polish a turd. In the meantime the entire County infrastructure is rotting. Today's Gazetto is a comedy classic. It's a positive development that 240 high paying jobs are leaving Downtown? lol. The stooge line is that State jobs are no good because they could be transferred. But giving millions in freebies to connected millionaires is a miracle. The end is near because Gov Cuomo has had enough. Begin the end game.

Hey all, you DO notice that DV has not been able to provide an answer about these so-called "truths" he alleges.    Ask him to provide the truths, to state the truths about taxes, house values, people fleeing, city services, and DV does not post an answer.     That's because the TRUTHFUL answers to ALL of the above will not show anything good.

So, are you ready to answer yet and provide proof of YOUR alleged "truths"

Yep, he'll just babble that he doesn't answer me which is just babble to avoid saying he is too much of a chicken to accept my challenge; refuses to acccept the challenge because of above

Or he'll spew his usual obscenities.

Or he'll change the subject

Or he'll say again say Schenectady is good and REFUSE TO PROVIDE ONE SHRED OF PROOF

Or he'll just avoid answering all together

How about a pool to guess his answer (via PMs)   LOL

Oh?

DV,  list for usd the reasons that they are allegedly not crazy about working on Wolf Rd??????

And you say "many."    Tell us HOW many and tell us just how you claim to those this ?????

And tell us DV, how many of those DOT workers just love Schenectady so much that they are buying homes in the city??????     Since they have been here for 9 years, list for us which one of the highest paid, the heads of various units, have bought houses in the city.

Come on DV, provide proof of your comments.   Provide documentation of how much they ALLEGEDLY love the city.

Of course you won't, because it's just LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES!!!!!!

The ONLY thought I can understand that someone who might west of Schenectady, e.g., Amsterdam or something may like that it's a FEW less miles to work if they work in Schenectady,  But someone who lives in Troy is going to be absolutely THRILLED to be moving to Wolf Rd because it is much closer.

Notice, DV has not wanted to provide an answer.   He's too embarrassed to admit that these state employees do NOT want to live in the city and thus he is unwilling to answer.

So, I will answer for him.    Using the DOT website itself for Region 1 "executives" who obviously have the work location at State St (phone exchange), here is a list of those employees and the community in which they live.  ALL information is obtained from information which is public record
Regional Director, Mary Ivey, Colonie
Assistant to the Regional Director, James Boni, Malta
Regional Public Information Officer, Carol Breen,  either Albany or Saratoga Springs (differing middle initials)
Administration, Personnel, Janet Brown   unable to determine, many names, differeing middle initials, no houses owned in Schdy Co
Regional Construction Engineer, John Grady, Rotterdam (over 30 years)
Regional Design Engineer, James Bridges, Clifton Park
Director of Regional Transportation Operations, Michael Johnson, Niskayuna (years before the move to State St)
Equipment Management, Robert Hulchanski, Latham
Resident Engineer for Schenectady County, (work location is Chrisler Ave), Kent DeStafanis, Altamont
Regional Planning & Program Manager, Frank Bonafide, Delmar
Regional Planning & Program Manager, Robert Cherry, Guilderland
Real Estate, Joseph Nolan, Moreau
Regional Transportation System Operations Engineer, Mark Kennedy, Albany
Transportation Management Center, Dan Howard, Albany

So, seven live in Albany Co, three in Saratoga Co, two in Schenectady Co (one for over 30 years in Rotterdam and another built in Niskayuna) - notice, avoid the city at all cost; and two unable to make positive location but either Albany or Saratoga

And as far as the other comment that they love working in Schenectady, well, who in Albany wants to drive to Schenectady.  Who in Saratoga wants to take the back roads to get to Schenectady when they can have more time for their families by zipping down the Northway where they are feet from the parking lot (look at the photos, the Wolf Rd place is right next to the Northway).  Niskayuna has easy access to Wolf Rd.

Now, let's see DV and his imaginery cheerleading squad put the pom poms down saying "NO NO, this CAN'T be true, it's all made up, they love Schenectady"       ROFL

You don't need to drive "back roads" to get from Saratoga County to Schenectady.   Has the monkey ever heard of State Rout3 50 and State Route 146 ??????

Get out of your attic and look around.

Northway is STILL quicker!  Higher speed limit,  Few traffic lights.   Once on Wolf Rd far more choices to do shopping.   And the employees can get home SAFELY earlier and spend time with their spouses and children (of course you wouldn't understand spouse and children)

Now DV, tell us how many DOT employees have bought houses in the city AFTER moving to Wolf Rd???????     Proof please.  I mean, you CAN find out who the employees are AND where they own homes.  Might take some time and since no one will hire you, you have more than enough time to look it all up (of course, that's IF you even know HOW to look it up)
