Obama Signs Global Internet Treaty Worse Than SOPA
White House bypasses Senate to ink agreement that could allow Chinese companies to demand ISPs remove web content in US with no legal oversight

Months before the debate about Internet censorship raged as SOPA and PIPA dominated the concerns of web users, President Obama signed an international treaty that would allow companies in China or any other country in the world to demand ISPs remove web content in the US with no legal oversight whatsoever.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement was signed by Obama on October 1 2011, yet is currently the subject of a White House petition demanding Senators be forced to ratify the treaty. The White House has circumvented the necessity to have the treaty confirmed by lawmakers by presenting it an as “executive agreement,” although legal scholars have highlighted the dubious nature of this characterization.

The hacktivist group Anonymous attacked and took offline the Federal Trade Commission’s website yesterday in protest against the treaty, which was also the subject of demonstrations across major cities in Poland, a country set to sign the agreement today.

Under the provisions of ACTA, copyright holders will be granted sweeping direct powers to demand ISPs remove material from the Internet on a whim. Whereas ISPs normally are only forced to remove content after a court order, all legal oversight will be abolished, a precedent that will apply globally, rendering the treaty worse in its potential scope for abuse than SOPA or PIPA.                       http://www.infowars.com/obama-.....p;

OK, This may take a few minutes so follow it if you can...

Shadow who rails against the Main Stream Media then posts a piece by a "journalist" named:
Paul Joseph Watson
Who is this person that we are supposed to take his words seriously???

Paul Joseph Watson is a British comedian/conspiracy theorist. He is best known as the co-creator of the virtual

Yea by the same person Shadow inflicted up on is with more of his Infowar sensationalism & conspiracy themes.

It's easy to post that Bigfoot was found in the state of Washington, or that Elvis is still alive and working in a
deli in NYC... but if you are going to cut down the MSM for lack of facts... You should try to find a more reliable
source than infowars and Watson.

Prove to us that this is false then Box instead of attacking the messenger which you were taught in the Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky. Did Obama sign the treaty or not. This is what Obama does he can't get things passed thru the Senate but does what he wants and goes around Congress.

Really Shadow?  Have you ever heard: You Can Prove a Negative?

It's a common ploy used against those who assume that if you can't prove something to be false, that it must be
true!  LMAO!

Try reading up on:
"Argument from ignorance", also known as argumentum ad ignorantiam or "appeal to ignorance" (where "ignorance"
stands for: "lack of evidence to the contrary"), is a fallacy in informal logic.

President Obama Signs Global Internet Treaty Worse Than SOPA - Meet ACTA

Whereas ISPs normally are only forced to remove content after a court order, all legal oversight will be abolished, a precedent that will apply globally, rendering the treaty worse in its potential scope for abuse than SOPA or PIPA. A country known for its enforcement of harsh Internet censorship policies like China could demand under the treaty that an ISP in the United States remove content or terminate a website on its server altogether. As we have seen from the enforcement of similar copyright policies in the US, websites are sometimes targeted for no justifiable reason.                http://legitreviews.com/news/12368/

The link provided didn't work.
I went to their home site, and as near as I can figure they are a website that reviews Computer Hardware
and new Technology, but as far as I can tell, they only reprint news stories that they pick up on the web.

Shadow doesn't trust the MSM.... Not ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, PBS, BBC, CNN... but he DOES TRUST something called
Legitreviews.com for his news.

Amazing!

MSM. ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, PBS, BBC, CNN... When the main stream media starts doing it's job and stops cheerleading for the Obama administration I may go back to reading what what they say and print.  The site has a news review as well.      http://legitreviews.com/news/12368/

A battle for Internet freedom as UN meeting nears
RICHARD LARDNER, Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — A year after the Internet helped fuel the Arab Spring uprisings, the role cyberspace plays in launching revolutions is being threatened by proposed changes to a United Nations telecommunications treaty that could allow countries to clamp down on the free flow of information.
For months, dozens of countries have been meeting behind closed doors to debate changes to the 24-year-old treaty. The U.S. delegation to the World Conference on International Telecommunications to be held in Dubai this December has vowed to block any proposals that could permit online censorship or undercut the Internet's current governing structure.
Yet those assurances have failed to ease fears that bureaucratic tinkering with the treaty could imperil Internet freedom and diminish its role in economic growth, according to legal experts and civil liberties advocates who have been tracking the discussions.
Russia, for example, has proposed language that requires member states to ensure the public has unrestricted access and use of international telecommunication services, "except in cases where international telecommunication services are used for the purpose of interfering in the internal affairs or undermining the sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity and public safety of other states, or to divulge information of a sensitive nature," according to a May 3 U.N. document that details the various proposals for amending the treaty.
The wording of this provision could allow a country to cite a U.N. treaty as the basis for repressing political opposition. The provision also appears to contradict Article 19 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which says people shall have the right to access information "through any media and regardless of frontiers."............................>>>>.....................................>>>>.....................http://hosted2.ap.org/OHCOL/8e.....4aac899f50ec1b57dd9d

Copyrighting is the unnatural assigning of value to otherwise free market ideas, stories, movies etc.

Copyrighting uses the power of the government to create millionaires out of ordinary people who sing a song or any other useless work.

Free trade.

The government has no business falsely creating wealth for a handful, while denying the same right to others.

If Bob sings a song and gets paid, it should not forbid everyone else from doing the same.

If your work is valuable to yourself, don't release it until you get your money.

The entire media industry has been government controlled for decades, restricting the general population from participation.

And while we are at it, patents are much worse than copyrights.

The government allows people to not be treated with lifesaving drugs or procedures unless the patent holder get's paid his artificially government thug, generated blackmail price.

We now allow people to die to protect a patent holding corporation's billion dollar sales to exist.

Correct.

Patents merely retard the natural progression of new ideas and inventions resulting in rationed technology and goods and services.

Patents are the reason you can't buy solar paint for your home yet, even though the process to make it is public knowledge. Allowing the patent holder, in this case, China, exclusivity for years and years merely means societies solutions, will just be kept out of reach until all the corporations control all the money.

Example: Cave man creates fire.

Without patents, everyone quickly learns to use and control fire.
With patents, the same cave man becomes the tribal Godfather and everyone must pay him to use his invention;thereby slowing the natural learning curve of the entire species.

Patents are unnatural changes manipulating the natural order of evolution of ideas, goods and services.

The entire telecommunications industry is an artificially created concoction designed to create wealth for a few, and allow others to buy the right to also make more wealth.

The entire communications industry could, in a naturally adapting world, by operated for next to nothing and everyone would have had wireless internet and unlimited videoconferencing decades ago. When the government seized the wireless airwaves and rationed the technology to the "chosen people"(deliberate Jewish reference)the entire country and world stopped dead in it's tracks to allow the chosen ones to extrapolate and extract as much profit as possible before allowing the technology to move on.
The same government protected groups controlled the movie industry, television and radio and the invention of the internet has allowed the natural order of technological and education advances to slip by without the chosen ones getting their booty.

This is where we are today, at the crossroads of technology advancement versus the rights to control and restrict everything with government sanctioned exclusivity.

Obama seems to be siding with the retards, hoping for reelection booty to fall his way.

There is no valid argument that can be made to allow suffering, ignorance and pain to continue, while allowing government thug sanctioned corporations to pillage and deny the public knowledge information to be shared and used to educated and improve society and the world.

All I am saying is the government should never have stepped into the free trade, thereby altering the natural order of events from happening.

Without patents all things are possible.

With patents there is a 10 year delay after each new idea, before we can advance.

Retards!
