New GOP chief will face task of rebuilding
Buhrmaster, Cuevas try for position
BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Members of the Schenectady County Republican Committee this week will elect their first new chairman in nearly a decade.
Longtime chairman Thomas Buchanan stepped down from the position last month so he could accept his party’s nomination to try to replace retiring state Supreme Court Justice Vincent Reilly Jr. Now James Buhrmaster, the lone Republican on the Schenectady County Legislature and the acting chairman of the committee, and city GOP Committee Chairman Michael Cuevas will compete for Buchanan’s former post.

Two names which should be high on the list are Art Brassard and Jim Burhmaster. Both of these men are just great community minded individuals, reasonable minded and highly respected by all. |

How would you know???>....why not put your name in....Mr. Smarts...you could do a tremendous job according to your bio...
How would I know? I have known these two gentlemen for years. I know many Republicans and many of them are my friends. Oh -- and I have no doubt that I could do a tremendous job as party chairman ... but I am am pretty certain that the GOP by-laws allow for choosing a Democrat as their county chair and my party has a county chair and a town chair --- both of whom are men that I consider far better candidates for their respective party positions than even someone as tremendous and humble as me. |

Buhrmaster to head county GOP
SCHENECTADY COUNTY — Republican Schenectady County Legislator James Buhrmaster was chosen unanimously on Saturday to be the next chairman of the county's Republican Committee.
Buhrmaster, chairman of the Glenville Republicans, has been serving as the committee's chairman since long-time chairman Thomas Buchanan stepped down last month.
As his first vice-chairman, Buhrmaster chose Michael Cuevas, who serves as the Glenville town attorney and ran for city mayor in 2007.
