You did your homework Cicero! Good job!
And let us be reminded of all of the incidents that 'never' hit the paper or get reported. I know of some instances where folks were picked up by the spd and came out with black and blues all over their body......with pictures to prove it. Their jobs were threatened in some cases so the victim(s) didn't pursue further action.
This stuff has been going on for years if not decades!!!
And now some municipalities have COPS in elected positions!! NOT GOOD! |

nice try Cicero. you know that was not what I was referring to.
you asserted the officers are never going tonbe found in the wrong because IA was not a neutral party. You said that in direct response to my comment that the attorney wasbnot a neutral party. you buttressed tgat assertion with the comment thatbyou saw IA out drinking with the problem officers. The point I was arguing was that IA has been shown to be able to hold its own accountable. when challenged on your assertion you change the subject. Nowhere did I make any reference to the amount of excessive force claims.
You could not support your argument so now you claim a different argument and your pal bumble not surprisingly runs to your defense. This board worked much better for you when you were allowed to spout off with no one challenging whatever claims you make. |

bumble has a nice strategy to win arguments. the police are guilty of excessive force claims no one knows about but him. |

Have to disagree Visitor.
I looked and found many misconduct cases dating back to the mid-to-late 1990's and even in early 2000.
I was upset to find the statistic that Schenectady ..even in 2010 had 15 cases misconduct/brutality in one year. That's at least one every month and places us 7th in the country for forces with similar police force size.
The problem is still rampant and not getting better.
DA's and the higher ups on the force are doing something very wrong.... |

The bottom line is what we read and hear is not entirely the picture....
The government in all departments do not always relate the truth...it is spun by the media for us to believe ..
I don't believe in statistics....because the numbers are groomed to be less accurate....in all crimes..petit larceny, to feloniy
rape, murder, assaults...burglaries, etc., once in awhile there is a big shot that has to be the scape goat...just to show face.
We all know that....so the argument is not about the stats but about the victims.....they seem to be forgotten...
A crime is a crime....but this petit larcency by a teen for beer is over the top in the analysis.....the cop was out of line...
and out of his jurisdiction. I think I would have run too....but probably not as fast as the teen .....so the cop would have caught
me and pinned me down....and then, slung me over his shoulder...and whamo....allegedly of course....LOL...then I plead not
guily by reason of insanity...of course after I have rid myself of the hangover....BUT the catch is I am treated as an adult
not a juvenile.....so it would be hard time.....in a nice warm cell....and lobster and steak every nite....ooooopss..
and socializing with the best of them....LOL.......just a joke folks....wanted to lighten this all up....

The original argument was in response to you dismissing the 16 year olds attorney's statement as "bias". My counter was that every police action in regards to excessive force always seems to be justified by the PD's IA and is just as bias. If you look at the list of SPD criminal charges and convictions I provided, most were initiated by an outside law enforcement agency like the State Police or FBI. SPD does a horrible job policing themselves. |
