Verizon Wireless: $2 charge for online payments

Verizon Wireless is expected to start charging a $2 "convenience charge" for customers that make one-time payments by telephone or online. The nation's largest wireless carrier (NYSE:VZ) said the fee starts Jan. 15.
"The fee will help allow us to continue to support these single bill payment options in these channels and is designed to address costs incurred by us for only those customers who choose to make single bill payments in alternate payment channels (online, mobile, telephone)," said Verizon in a prepared statement.
To avoid the fee, customers can opt to pay their bills in the following ways:
Electronic check online (My Verizon Online, My Verizon Mobile/Handset). Fee waived.
Electronic check via telephone. Fee waived.
Enrollment in AutoPay using credit/debit/ATM card or electronic check; fee does not apply.
Online from the customer’s home-banking service provider website; fee does not apply.
Credit/debit/ATM card, electronic check or cash at a bill payment kiosk, panel or with a representative at a Verizon Wireless Communications Store; fee does not apply.
Use of a Verizon Wireless Gift Card or Verizon Wireless device Rebate Card to pay a bill in-store, online or by telephone; fee does not apply.

This charge is nothing new...or is in addition to the one that I have paid by phone in the past...
Verizon are thieves.....and they are ridiculous in their fees.....almost like the government and their fees for every little thing...
And the economy is getting better....tell me another one.

Heard on the news that there is so much anger from verizon customers, that verizon is thinking of retracting this $2 fee before the January 15th deadline. |
