Adult Film Condom Proposal Qualifies for June Ballot

A proposal that would require adult film actors to use condoms has qualified for the June ballot after proponents gathered enough signatures to put the issue before Los Angeles voters.

Proponents gathered more than 70,000 signatures, exceeding the 41,000 required to place the issue on the ballot, according to AIDS Heathcare Foundation spokesman Ged Kenslea. The porn industry is a 'private' industry...yes?
If that is the case...then it is not the role of government to tell them if they need to wear condoms or not.
Again it boils down to personal choice and personal responsibility without government intervention.

If the government wants to make a law.....I would suggest they pass a law where all people on the government teet, being supported by taxpayer money, are required to wear a condom during sex.

But leave the 'private' businesses alone!!

Porn industry mulls leaving LA if condoms required

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Some of the most prominent purveyors of porn say they'll start packing up their sex toys and abandoning the nation's porn capital if authorities carry through with a nascent effort to police adult film sets and order that every actor be outfitted with a condom.
That effort took a serious leap forward Tuesday when the Los Angeles city council voted 9-1 to grant final approval to an ordinance that would deny film permits to producers who do not comply with the condom requirement. The measure now goes to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for approval.

LOS ANGELES — Actors in adult movies filmed in Los Angeles will be required to use condoms under an ordinance signed into law by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and porn industry leaders say the regulation could lead them to abandon the nation's porn capital.

The law, signed Monday, will take effect 41 days after it is posted by the city clerk, something that could happen as early as this week.
