Who’s responsible for litter at bus stops?

People waiting for buses bring snacks/ treats, which is fine and dandy. But if you can lug that heavy cup of coffee or bag of goodies from McDonald’s or Dunkin’ Donuts, than you can probably lug the lighter empties onto the bus and toss it into the next trash bin or bag you come across. There is no good reason for litter, and a clean environment starts with you.
There are three types of people responsible for litter. Those who drop items and aren’t aware of it — the innocents. Then there are those that toss things on purpose, and those that see litter and don’t pick it up — the guilty.
If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

Kathy should drive down Crane St. from Broadway to Altamont Ave.  Littering at bus stops is minor compared to that sh*t hole.  If there isn't litter in front of 80% of those houses, there isn't one.  I'm not talking one or two stray D&D's cup that blew onto somebody's front lawn, it's like somebody emptied a garbage can on their front lawn.

The city garbage crew is half of the problem.  They take the cans domp them and then slam them upsidedown on the sidewalk or throw them up onto the lawn.  Anything that was left on the inside is all over the street.  I am going to video tape it pretty soon and post it on youtube.  Total bu11shit.

You are correct. We were driving behind a city garbage truck on Nott Street. Half of the garbage went into the truck and and rest hit the pavement........and then they moved on!!!!

This service can and should be privatized!!!

What planet is she from?

Laws concerning littering?  I remember that the Schenectady police did fine someone for littering once.  Seems a taxi driver threw a cigarette out the window and he got a ticket, no kidding.

Sure littering is a quality of life issue and it would make a difference if it didn't happen but to give you an example...  Eastern and Prospect a little corner store they have/had a garbage can out for folks to use don't know if it is still there. I still saw the employees outside with brooms sweeping.  The store cares about the community, but the community doesn't care about the community.

Littering around here is a mind set that goes along with the entitlement mentality.

Another major issue littering at unused bus stops. That makes too much sense BT. Just the opposite is happening in Pit Bull City. They are socializing more private functions like running the pollution plant. Hiring 22 City employees to save money? Then they create an odor committee to appease the outraged neighbors with working noses. Good luck selling those condos!

Those that are lower income and ride the buses are so noble and sacrosanct as individuals. What perfect people and remember: the middle class and upper middle class is evil.

If you wanna see a dump go drive by Yates village, most of the city you will see sparrows, pigeons, some crows, but over Yates you have about a 100 seagulls which made it their home because of the amount of garbage they can scavenge on. The funniest thing or should I say the saddest thing I ever seen was on a windy day a few years ago the wind created a whirlwind inside 1 of the courts, the damn thing made about a 30 foot tornado made up of garbage

Oh and let's remember, recycling will save us.  Just wait until the recycling program gets enforced.  All the food and waste that used to be closed up in the jar or left in the can and then thrown out will now be thrown in the garbage disposal and/or the toilet.  Also, expect the amount of water used to clean out each and every container to make it acceptable for the recycling program.  Expect water use to go up 25% or more.

The food stuff in the sewers will make it much harder to process.  Water and sewer costs will go up in the city.  Guaranteed.

This city is a joke.   The CITY the CITY had only $2,977 of scrap income in 2010.  Of all the metal and appliances that that city picks up they only had less than $3,000 in income from metals and scrap.  We have city workers with city vehicles returning the metal to the scrap yard and pocketing the money.

Well, as soon as their route is done, they can go home and get paid for the rest of their shift.  So if they are able to pick up some time by only getting half the garbage inside the truck, it's worth it.  It's as if the city incentivizes half a** work with paid time off.

FYI
The paid leave early was brought to my attention by a city worker.

The same planet as the insane clown posse here. They refuse to see the forest for the trees. The entire City is imploding and they are concerned about this non issue. The City is headed for a State takeover. Another Camden/Newburg/Harrisburg. And they are worried about a candy wrapper at an unused bus stop.
