Heating Degree Days is the annual sum of the degrees above 68 for each day's average temperature. Cooling Degree Days is the annual sum of the degrees below 68 for each day's average temperature. How is this meaningful? If there is a predominance of one type of degree day over another; that indicates either a very hot or very cold environment. If both numbers are large, that generally indicates a very variable climate. If both numbers are small, that generally indicates a more consistent climate.
Schenectady county having a nice little tax on heating fuel is another way of saying "F you. Most of the homes are old, outdated and poorly insulated. hahahahaha and we are your leaders" |

blah, blah blah... read the report and weep... get over it, u LOST
Smokey, I think you are defending the undefendable here! This isn't a who won or who lost. I believe that there are folks who think the plex is a success and some folks who think it is a total failure. Trying to defend the plex to the overburdened taxpayers and victims of crime or folks trying to sell their homes is like pissing in the wind. I'm sure you would agree.......yes? Remember....FAIR AND BALANCED! |

The people who praise Metroplex are Proctors, Developers, and businesses who got money from them or pay no taxes. The people who do not like Metroplex are the taxpayers who are paying for all of the failed deals that Metroplex has made and because they have seen no return from the money taken from them. In 10 years taxpayers have seen their taxes and fees go up every year and see no end in site for Metroplex's out of control spending. |

a great many people who are citizens praise metroplex... they know it works, the naysayers are those who tried to squeeze a loan from metroplex and were turned down because they had bad business plans. they are therefore bitter.

If Metroplex really worked Schenectady city/county wouldn't be paying one of the highest tax rates in the entire country. |

How true!!! It is an epic failure!! The only ones calling it a success are the folks that belong to the 'friends and family' club!! The overburdened taxpayers certainly aren't!! Now the long time, local businesses that are failing do to the plex's 'deals' are looking at it differently now. |

Not when you are still on the 'greasy palm' side and while the gazetto continues to feed the schenectadians the 'fantasy'! |

Guess now Petta's and Dolce Vita will follow suit with the 'friends ans family' club by moving tax free into Downtown. Can't wait to see the millions spent in 'relocating' - 'facade' - 'renovation' grants for two restaurants. So pathetic...... An audit can't come soon enough!!!! |

still a success .. going strong in the new year
Then please explain WHY taxes are almost the highest in the country and going UP EACH AND EVERY YEAR? Huh? Pleae explain WHY houses sit UNSOLD after one year (in the city, the primary focus for metroplex) Please explain why there is na ever INCREASING number of abandoned or vacant houses in the city? And you didn't even bother to post the source of the alleged comment that property values have increased in 5 years. Please supply the source document, the source numbers where ABO go tthe numbers. Please supply us with the numbers. Well? Or is it what some mere newspaper worker copied and copied incorrectly. Still waiting for you to provide the numbers direct from GCAR that you cited a couple months ago saying the property values are about $185,000 in Schenectady. The medicain in the whole COUNTY is not even near that, and in the city it WAY WAY WAY FAR LOWER. So again, SB, can you tell us WHY you have not provided proof from GCAR's website, from GCAR's officially published monthly reports, no link to ANY report that those the county OR the city having values that high. why havn't you provided proof? |

they can claim increased value all they want......it's all virtual value.....
no value = no tax revenue
20% of zero = zero
the levy monster must be fed.....mandates/guaranteed pensions/government jobs/services that remain that ARE NOT NECESSARY or even prioritized for fear of relative losing job, screw everyone else.... |
