I am not a Republican. And, rest assured that I am watching the actions of those who serve in government from all political parties.
I am displeased with many in Saratoga County town and county government who recently publicly supported an increase to the sales tax rate before deciding, upon receiving no support from my NYS representatives for the change in sales tax rate, to increase local property taxes. There was no effort to identify potential areas for cost savings.
Decisions and actions have consequences ...
Agreed. Looks like some of this will finally get some attention. Jail time. Real jailtime is warranted. This stuff is rampant. Democrats, Republicans. It doesn't matter. E Stewart Jones is licking his chops. |

So the WORKING TOGETHER - WORKS idea was NOT slammed by the State ABO -- the FACT is that the State ABO is slamming the 7 agencies for NOT working together. And that has been my argument - and the argument of all those who sincerely believe that WORKING TOGETHER WORKS is more than just an election year slogan - My two goals for 2012 -- #1) we need more REAL working together and #2) we need to start ACTUALLY consolidating as many of the agencies, boards, taxing districts, etc. as possible within Schenectady County
So they could work together and not follow the rules together. To not file timely together. Working together is the only way when you have the bunch of half time, halfhearted, no experienced we do. Its just an excuse. A cop out. There is no responsibility. The whole program sucks. Authorities are just a solution to the inability of the government to government and plan. They are a way to skirt the law. Change the laws I say! Working together doesn't always work because people don't pull their weight. Sick of hearing that. Just do the right thing. That's it. |

Schenectady needed the 7 economic development agencies so that they could spend the taxpayers money 7 times faster.
Call in Hamburg-DVR is not making any sense. The State has investigated this and found rampant overlap and fiscal incompetence by the working together idiots. Disband Metrograft, all IDA's, and the City honey pot that received $1.8 MILLION from the taxpayers through sham transfers. |

Working together is just political buzz words. What they really mean is of DEMS, for DEMS. Every County Board and agency has been packed with DEM hacks from Metrograft down to the Library Bored. They prefer working alone in the dark. |

Have to agree with Benny here. There is no 'working together' in the County and how could there be when you have 7 agencies not helping each other out. The Plex charging $2K to other agencies to do the job they're supposed to do????
This report will be seen by the governor....probably was before he handed a mere $1 million of the $700 million to the Capital District for its poor job growth and economic 'strategy'.
Now to have Schenectady County singled out as one of the most abused by failing IDA's....put another nail in the coffin already!! |

Who among those who served on the RIDA Board received stipends? How much were they paid and is there record of these disbursements? What legal authority decided that the compensation was warranted and legal (i.e., in accordance with municipal law)?
The RIDA is the first of many useless "development" agencies to be dissolved. They deserve it after the gin mill fiasco. Only in Schenectady County- lol! |

.Metroplex provided a $250,000 grant to the SLDC in 2004 so that theSLDC could establish a revolving loan program. In 2010, the SLDCloaned $15,000 from this fund to the CBC, in order for the CBC to meet itsoperating costs. Upon the request of the Metroplex Chair, the SLDC didnot require the CBC to repay this loan. A second loan of $7,500 wasprovided in 2011. In addition, Metroplex has granted over $570,000 to theCBC since 2003 and the County IDA granted $25,000 to the CBC in 2010.In total, over $600,000 of economic development funds have beenprovided to the CBC since 2003 to meet its operating costs. These costsconsist primarily of payroll related expenses, a significant portion of whichis compensation to Metroplex and City employees for administrativeservices.Authority officials responded that only a small fraction of the grantproceeds were used for employee compensation, with much of the grantused to support the operations of the CBC. They further clarified that non-payroll operating costs generally consist of professional services such aslegal and accounting, insurance costs, and grounds and landscaping. To support this contention, they provided us with detailed financial reports to identify the costs incurred by CBC. However, these reports contain contradictory information. Some indicate that payroll related costs rangefrom 80 percent to 96 percent of total costs, while others exclude payrollrelated costs altogether |

It hurts but our clock needs to be cleaned before we can rise out of this. |

Contradictory information given by the Metroplex? Say it isn't so Bumble! I mean, they were so transparent with their Transfinders deal...and all their press releases! Classic fiction there.
This is not sounding good for Mr. Gillen, but I'm sure McCarthy has a new position in the City ready for him for about $150K a year and free lifetime health benefits. |
