bumble u are a libertarian.. govmint is the enemy to u, so nothing it does is gonna change your mind ... i see it otherwise..

I don't wanna speak for bumble, but I don't think constitutional libertarians believe the "govmint" is the "enemy".  A large centralized government that walks all over the Constitution and killz their own citizens begins to look like a tyrannical government and the enemy of individual liberty.

Benito Mussolini
All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.

It is the State which educates its citizens in civic virtue, gives them a consciousness of their mission and welds them into unity.

I'll bet that some people may have thought these quotes were from 20th centruy American Presidents.

And whoever disagrees with this statement or rises against it, is considered a 'domestic terrorist' and 'unpatriotic'!

VIVA the patriot act penned by bush II and continued with obama.
VIVA gitmo..started by bush II...kept into existence by obama.
VIVA detaining american citizens penned by obama.
VIVA killing american citizens penned by obama.

Different side of the SAME corrupt coin!!

The working together idiots are taking another one in the chops. This will not go away despite the usual nit wit efforts to deny, "it's all lies" and blame others for their total fiscal incompetence. The MSM is analyzing this horrible only in Schenectady County taxpayer rip off. RIDA will be the first of seven useless agencies to implode.

Gotta tell ya......this state ABO will do nothing and will end up with the plex fixing their errors and all other's will be desolved and absorbed under the plex umbrella! Just mark my words here! The plex, if not desolved immediately will end up to be a bigger beast and will ask for a higher amount so they can 'run the entire county' economic system with their falsehoods!

Call, email or snail mail your representatives and tell them to desolve the plex! It has failed by creating a false sense of economic security and broken it's promise of creating lower property taxes....for a start!!

There's no story here. Metrograft and its six alter egos are all going the way of the Gazetto. Into the dust bin of history. And no one will miss any of them.

Would like to see how much my tax bill will be once the Plex PILOTs are dismantled and the Downtown businesses have to actually CONTRIBUTE to both the schools AND the property taxbase.

My guess is that Marcellas flees first. They'll never be able to afford the taxes on the building Metroplex built for them.

Hate to say it but it will probably be the same.  It will probably never go down again.  Flat maybe but never down.  Until someone outlaws cites, counties and states from stealing jobs......  agree about marcellas also.  Appliances is a tough business.  Sears, Best Buy...  etc.

302 State Street (Alcohol & Substance Abuse) assessed at  $1,090,000 exempt

433 State Street (Center City) assessed at $13,317,500 totally exempt

447 State Street (Bombers) assessed at $531,000 and receives a $774,500 exemption talk about padding pockets!

615 State Street (MVP Parking Garage) assessed at $5,390,000 totally exempt

226 Broadway (Villia Italia) assessed at $815,500 totally exempt (with no ending date)

Just these few have an assessed value of over $20,000,000 which is written off the taxbase.

Just these FIVE properties (if they paid taxes) would bring over $800,000 back into the City.

Haven't added Marcellas, Key Bank, the empty Trustco, Aperitivo...none of those.

Metroplex, agency at odds over report
Two sides differ on quality of information provided in review of operations

By LAUREN STANFORTH, Staff writer
Published 10:10 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2012

SCHENECTADY — The official leading a recent inquiry into the Metroplex Development Authority says the Schenectady County agency seemed either unable — or unwilling — to provide clear documentation of its financial transactions.

Metroplex Chairman Ray Gillen fired back, however, saying his staff made all files available and that the New York State Authorities Budget Office was trying to justify the expense of its review.

The report issued late last month raised questions about the operation of Metroplex and its allied agencies.

Metroplex, which touts its leadership for turning around the Electric City's downtown, has been charging three local industrial development agencies for work on projects the tax-funded authority would likely be doing anyway, the report said.

It also said employees of Metroplex, the town of Rotterdam and city of Schenectady received stipends for doing authority work during their regular hours. As to job creation, which Metroplex lists as one of its signature accomplishments, the state authorities office found that Metroplex does not consistently track how many jobs its projects generate.

But it is the characterization of Metroplex's inability, or unwillingness, to provide clear documentation of its transactions that the watchdog office deems most troubling.

The Authorities Budget Office was created by state legislation in the wake of hearings into the finances of quasi-government authorities that use public money but are independent from government. The office scrutinized Metroplex and Schenectady County's six other economic development entities for eight months, starting February 2010. The report came out Dec. 22.

ABO Director David Kidera conveyed the difficulty his staff encountered in dealing with Metroplex, saying its staff treated the state's requests for financial information "like a game," providing confusing documents that often contradicted each other, he said................>>>>...................>>>>.......................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....76.php#ixzz1iUh7MGVG
