We were at Uncle Sam's Candy this past week and got candy for our friends and relatives. We had to go back again because we forgot about 'ourselves' for holiday guests at our home! The place was packed, and yet the service was fast and friendly!!! Schenectady is very fortunate to have the #1 Candy store located in their county. |

Mother Myrick's is also well known for their "Lemon Lulu" Cakes --- This is a great treat for someone's birthday or anniversary. It is nice to know the locations of these WORLD CLASS but still LOCALLY OWNED businesses.
For those of you folks who have never ventured past the block you were born on or beyond your municipality's borders - it is time to broaden your horizons and broaden your minds. There ACTUALLY is a world BEYOND Schenectady County and people from here can travel there --- and people from there travel here .... and rational, intelligent people can purchase and enjoy the food and other products produced beyond the narrow agoraphobic cocoon that most nayboobs live in.

I believe that it's an honor to have Uncle Sam's in Schenectady because it's a place where people come from other states, other counties and other towns to 'broaden their horizons'. These are the types of businesses which our City needs more of.
With other places closing left and right (for example, the Jonesville Store is closing in January), we need to make sure we frequent OUR family businesses, especially around the holidays. |

Made my third trip this holiday season to Uncle Sam's Homemade Chocolates to pick up more boxes of that superb buttercrunch. I intend to serve it to family and friends who visit over the holidays. But, the stuff keeps disappearing! Congratulations to owner Joe Suhrada and his dedicated and talented staff for continuing to turn out superior products!
Time to open a store in Saratoga County!! |

The children in our family -- and the adults -- love the various treats from Krause's, Saratoga Sweets and Mother Myrick's. And we don't waste gas driving back and forth 2 or 3 times during the Holiday Season --- It is much easier to bring a cooler and buy what you need IN ONE TRIP.
These 3 shops have had such a central role in our family's traditions (at Christmas and other times of the year) ----- and keeping family traditions alive is very important. |

Ronnie just can't stand to see so many POSITIVE comments about Uncle Sam's ... it's gotta get on his last working nerve, and it's probably leading him up to another "episode". |

I agree. Not only is it an honor to have the #1 candy store (Uncle Sams) in your county, but it also employees people, increases sales tax revenue and helps take some of the property tax burden from the residents. It is a win-win for the entire county!!! And everyone can agree that the candy and service is #1!! |

He is a sad person. Very sad in that he wants to see local people out of a job. Neighbors, Rotterdam residents all unemployed. That is his wish, all because he hates the owner's politics. He only equates the place with the owner's success so he has to bad mouth it. It doesn't matter that use the gold-standard in chocolate and that their raw materials and ingredients cost more than the other candy stores he mentions, or that they have a dedicated and loyal customer base that comes from miles to order the product, or that it gets shipped out to all 50 states to others, and that the money goes right back into the community, and that they use local suppliers on everything they can... He is just an over political animal filled with hate and vengeance...and that is very sad for him. |

To state what they have said are complete psycho statements....these people don't even like themselves and live in a world that
we all cannot understand from a professional view....but, minds work in strange ways and are perverted and trained to say
and do over the top things.....When the end comes it will be tragic because they do not understand the reality of life...
they are a danger to everything around them......but to have these people on a committee for our Town is utterly
rediculous and offending....this is what we are getting in 2012???????.......Pray we all survive..........

I've always thought about stopping in there but never have.
With all the high praise I think once things calm down in there - I'll stop by to browse. Maybe next week. |

Jack -- as a fellow man of reason -- I implore you NOT to give that terrible mustachioed candy making NAZI any business.. He is noted to have been VERY insulting to friends of mine when he was mistakenly elected to the County Legislature. I say "mistakenly" because the people of the community saw what a horrible Legislator he was --- and voted him out soundly onto his rotund bottom! To patronize his establishment is akin to attending a Nazi book - burning or Munich Rally in the era of the Brownshirts.. I hope I have painted a picture in your mind's eye as to his viciousness and generally ignorance.. There are MANY finer places to venture to in order to obtain delicious confections and delicacies. Krause's and Mother Myrick's are just TWO of the fine places I call on you to try and taste - test.. |

Somehow taking advice from someone using the words Nazi and Brownshirts just seems wrong.
Hopefully in the New Year you find some anger management and ethics classes for yourself. |

It's pathetic that he has to resort to this low level of attack. It bothers him that someone locally can employ people, make a great product without being a stooge for the machine. Support local businesses-anyone driving to Vermont for less is stunad. |
