1. Going to choir practice at a church. I'm thinking, in that area there is St Paul's by VanZandt St, there is St Luke's way down the other end, there is that, oh, is it Woodlawn something up by the bingo hall. I can't think of what other churches are in that area. But if it were any of the three mentioned above, the woman had more than enough locations to cross in accordance with the law, i.e, cross in an officially designated crosswalk with a traffic signal.
2. Someone can get hit there without even being in the process of crossing the street. Why?......
3. ...Because there are no sidewalks on that seciton of Albany St. That is a heavily travelled section of Albany St, and has become more so since the dem leaders instituted traffic jams on State st by making it one lane only. So, why are the dems stealing from the homeowners and giving all their money to downtown and ignoring the neighborhoods? They dems should be spending the tax dollars putting in sidewalks in that area on Albany St to make it safe for the residents of the city rather than giving handouts to millionaires downtown.

This has been an issue all over the City. No sidewalks outside the high school or around Oneida Middle School (kids are ALL over Nott Street) and you would think the City might get on board with the school district...but apparently the City Council won't 'work together' with anyone. The Council needs to realize that the neighborhoods need money to become safe, habitable places. Instead of spending over $200,000 to move AAA to Center City, that money could have made it safer for school kids to walk home. |

I wish to comment on posts related to pedestrian being hit by a car on upper Albany Street. That pedestrian is my sister and the driver of the vehicle is Teresa Dagostino, a 76 year old Rotterdam resident and piano teacher. I wish to ascertain her connections both in the Schenectady County Legislature as well as the Sheriff's Department. I know that Judith Dagostino is the mother of Dominick Dagostino, but is Teresa the little old lady piano teacher the mother of Judith?
The only witness to the accident is the driver of the vehicle who has a bit of a conflict of interest. My sister was not walking down the middle of Albany Street and is not a "streetwalker" in whichever way the Schenectady Gazette wishes to define the term. This is not over yet. I am doing my own investigation to determine what happened as the Schenectady PD Public Information Officer McCracken and the Traffic Division Sgt. Morris appear to be in somebody's pocket. |

More crime cameras in Schenectady County November 07, 2011 6:16 PM Jennifer Lewke Schenectady County law enforcement is warning: If you commit a crime there, chances are you will be caught on tape. County Sheriff Dominic Dagostino announced today, the addition of 15 new crime cameras which means there are now more than 100 across the county. While the majority of the cameras are within the City of Schenectady, the new wave will be placed mostly outside city limits. The announcement is welcome news for people who say they’ve been asking for the added protection for a while. Read more: http://www.cbs6albany.com/articles/county-1288797-crime-schenectady.html#ixzz1h100T8GWCBS6 News also appears to be in the pocket of the Dagostinos as they reported that my sister was dead before Commissioner of Public Safety Bennett had them retract that statement. I wonder if Dominic Dagostino placed cameras behind Aldi's supermarket which is where 76 year old Teresa Dagostino ran into my sister on that dark and rainy evening as she turned onto Albany Street from her piano lesson. Drivers need reminder to turn on lights in bad weather TIM O'BRIEN, Times Union Copyright 2011 Times Union. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. TIM O'BRIEN, Staff writer Published 10:25 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011 Q: Section 375 of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law mandates that when motorists are using their windshield wipers, they must also have their headlights on. The purpose of the law is to increase safety and decrease accidents by better ensuring that vehicles are seen when it is rainy and dark. The Capital District does get its share (and then some) of rain and snow and accompanying darkness. However, way too many motorists do not have their headlights on when driving with their windshield wipers on in the rain and snow, thus increasing the likelihood of accidents. I personally was almost involved in four accidents in one week recently, directly because other drivers were breaking the law by not having their headlights on and their vehicles could not be seen until it was almost too late to avoid an accident. It would be greatly appreciated if Getting There could contact the proper enforcement authorities and have this valuable law better enforced. — Alan Meizlik, Guilderland A: State Police Sgt. Daniel Larkin, who works in the traffic division, said tickets are indeed written for drivers who fail to turn on their lights in the rain and snow. "The State Police does issue traffic tickets for failing to use headlights while windshield wipers are in use due to rain, snow, sleet, etc.," he said. Larkin said he did not have statistics available on how many drivers got ticketed for the violation because the state does not break down the number issued during rain and snow rather than for driving without lights at night. But the sergeant said your concern about this issue is a good reminder for all motorists, especially at this time of year. When the rain falls or the snow flies, turn on your lights so you can see and be seen. Wonder if this little old lady's vision is what it should be in order to be behind the wheel. Wonder if anyone cares about the victim who still lays in a coma due to the negligence of the driver of a potentially deadly weapon when used in the wrong hands. |

The Dagostinos are the finest family in Rotterdam IF not the entire County of Schenectady.. To impugn them in any way makes me want to call you out as the swine that you are. In days of yore it would have called for a duel between two men and I myself would have NO problem with that had society not long ago ended the practice...... This unfortunate streetwalker was obviously not in a proper state of mind as she ventured out into the path of oncoming traffic --- STOP blaming Mrs. Dagostino for this rather unfortunate accident which could ONLY have been prevented by the streetwalker who was bumped by the vehicle. STOP blaming our First Responders and STOP blaming the driver who is obviously NOT guilty of anything.... The slander committed by the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity and the GOP/NNTP is mind - boggling. |

I am truly sorry about your sister and my prayers go to her and your entire family during this most troubled time. I also hope that the severe injustice done to your entire family from the media and the police department officials are corrected as well. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you! |

By the way Patsy, Hamburg is a man named Ron Severson the appointed Historian for the Town of Rotterdam. The work number for him is 887-2451.
Francis Del Gallo is listed as the Supervisor and his number is 355-7575 ext 326. You may want to contact the supervisor after you print out the above entry. It will show the immoral, nasty nature of an official appointed in their community. |

Patsy, First of all, I hope that your sister is able to recover. Second of all, as far as your other post, I hope that they do punish to the fullest extent of the law. And as far as the enforcement of the New York State law regarding having your headlights on while the windshield wipers are operating, I have seen where the police officers themselves do not follow this law, and I have never seen them enforcing this. As far as the media outlets, with the exception of Justin Mason who reports for the Gazette in the town of Rotterdam, all the other reporting for the "official newspaper" of Schenectady County is slanted. Even Mr. Mason is somewhat slanted at times, but no where close to that of the reporters that cover the rest of the city and county. If I were you, I would stick with bringing your news for things happening in the city to Paul Nelson. As far as TV networks, I would make sure you go to anybody BUT CBS 6 Albany, which is, ironically, located in Niskayuna, not Albany. Personally, if I were you, I would not only ask for a special prosecutor on this, but also with the attachments of this family throughout the county, I would ask for a change of venue so that this could be judged fairly, whereas those who are in charge would not owe a favor or be acquaintances with the offending party. |

I too am truly sorry about your sister. I understand your rage and where it stems from. Like many of the other things this city does, it appears that most of the city officials who are in charge of communicating with the media are extremely bad at their job.
The lights and windsheild wiper law and enforcement of it may or might not have helped. The core issue may have been the drivers eyesite and the State recently changed the laws on that loosening the eye testing requirement. It probably saved them a few bucks a year and you know how that goes. If you could provide a couple of pictures of the site and where your sister was in the road, it might put some perpective on the issue.
I really hope that this isnt just an accident between two outstanding individuals. The foot in mouth disease is rampant in this city and it is leading to more pain by the day. I suggest going after the people handling and communicating this tragic accident.
I am sure this is killing the driver as well. She may also be a victum of the political system in the end. I might be wrong but I would bet she is praying for your sisterevery waking moment. As for Hamburg, he has his coming...... Karma is a b**ch

The only thing worse than being a dumb is acting just like another dumb azz and being accused of it. You have no identity of your own, just the identity of another loser. You probably dont even know how to GFYourself. |
