SCHENECTADY — City officials estimate it will cost in excess of $1 million to fix infrastructure that was damaged during Tropical Storm Irene.
Carl Olsen, commissioner of general services, gave City Council a briefing at a council committee meeting Monday night.
All of the repairs revolve around the city's sanitary sewer system, which was inundated when the Mohawk River overflowed its banks just after the Aug. 28 storm. The biggest ticket item could prove to be repair or replacement of a pump station on North Ferry Street, in which the walls of the building failed and allowed water to rise up and short-out the pump station's circuits. Olsen said just the repairs would run a few hundred thousand dollars.
