Union College took them off the tax rolls PERMANENTLY ---    Marcella's, MVP, Bombers, and Paul Mitchell are only receiving a TEMPORARY exemption which gradually phases out -- IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY I SUGGEST THAT YOU STOP POSTING UNTIL YOU GET A REMEDIAL EDUCATION.
You and your ilk bring down the intelligence of the WHOLE country.

And tell us DV, I trust you WILL acknowledge the FACT that your precious SOCIALIST bakery MILLIONAIRE has NO END DATE thus the financially struggling homeonwers, who cannot afford to shop their, nor does Villa Italia donate to the poor in the city, the MILLIONAIRE SOCIALIST BAKERY has a PERMANENT tax exemption

Yeah, and MVP does have a temporary exemption as per the pre-dem-socialist government

Now, groups like Schdy Light Opera and Civic Players - LITTLE non-profit theater groups with shows put on by volunteers. NO ONE makes money on those shows.

But here we have the lavish Proctors, with all the MULTIMILLIONS that fat Morris rakes in.   A theater with shows from around the world, Broadway shows, has a business EXACTLY like Broadway, AND takes in lots of rent from businesses, and then has a catering hall taken off the tax rolls.   Fat Morris rakes in milions, operates a 1,000% FOR PROFIT business yet does not pay one teeny weeny penny in property & school taxes.

His ENTIRE tax bill is fully and FORCIBLY paid for by the FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING homeonwers---most of whom can't afford to attend a show.

How, tell us DV, tell us....I DEFY you tell us...... in exchange for the tens of millions in taxpayer money paid on behalf of Proctors, tell us:

1.   What has happened to the tax bills of the homeonwers in the city, and to lesser extent the county
2.   What has happened to the residential property values in the city?
3.   What has happened to the taxable tax base in the city?
4.   How many of these show-goers are moving to the city?
5.   What has happened to houses put on the market for sale?
6.   What has been the relationship of the asking price for houses for sale and the actual selling price?
7.   What has improved in the neighborhoods -- where people live??????

Well, DV??????

And then, fat Morris has the nerve to illegally get two STAR exemptions - really good, huh?     Financially struggling homeowners are forced to cover the STAR exemption he illigally has, despite the FACT that he make AT LEAST 7 times more than the people who pay his illegal exemption!    But I'll bet you support him getting an exemption illegally, right?

Save your typing fingers, MC1. Nobody is THAT stupid. He must think it's funny to pretend to be somehow. Childish. All colleges are tax exempt, are they not? Are all businesses exempt? Of course not. Why are any, then, even temporarily? Someone either was stupid, or crooked, to allow it.

Again another thread which is supposed to be a positive for the the Union College Men's Ice Hockey team competing against another elite Ivy League school in division 1 hockey in a rare outdoors venue has become negetive.  Just like all the other threads, everything is negetive and is either the dems or the reps fault.  Can't we just get along for once and be positive for these players????????

I see your point Plate, but I'm neither a dem nor a repub and I don't think my opinions are political either. One person starts in with those remarks on every thread and I know I should ignore it but why should we have remarks that are pointed and personal aimed at us over and over again by this clod? I don't call other posters nasty names for their different opinions.

I called no one nasty names just pointing out the obvious.  These fine young men playing a great game outdoors from a small school in upstate NY on national stage, should all be POSITIVE not the 2+ pages of typical lingo on this forum.  All I am saying is can one thread start and remain positive??????

I'm not accusing you, Plate. I'm just saying that those of us who are non-partisan don't need the constant attacks even on neutral topics. You are right, we should be able to have a positive thread.

This is a great accomplishment for Union College which will be playing on a national stage. It's sad that one bad apple has to spoil it for everyone with the silly comparisons to Yankee Stadium and partisan remarks about PILOTS. Union College will get international coverage and Schenectady can bask in the reflected glory. Look forward to being there to cheer on the Schenectady team. Make Union College the home team with the biggest fan support.

Congrats to the Union College Mens Ice Hockey team for their 2-0 win over Harvard at Frozen Fenway.  Great to see these fine young athletes from a small school in upstate NY compete so well in division 1 hockey.

A great win for Schenectady's Union College hockey in front of almost 9,000 hockey fans outside in beautiful Fenway Park. The second win for Union College over Harvard this season. Every college in the country is tax exempt. The negative comments coming from the DEM sock puppets are sickening. Comparing a college to Downtown businesses is apples and oranges. If every business paid its fair share the City would not be going broke. What they always fail to mention is the over $25 million in private funds Union College invested in the College Park neighborhood. Without that another slum like so many others. Thank You Union College trustee's for investing in the City. Keep the progress going!
