It is really very simple ------>>>> the people who come INTO the county to see shows at Proctor's spend money at local restaurants and shops --- and pay sales tax on those purchases.
Besides, the new stage at Proctor's allows bigger shows -- Broadway class shows -- to be staged there. It is well worth the $9 million INVESTMENT.
Explain HOW the $9 mill is a good investment when it results in home values plummeting even more? Explain HOW it's an investment when no one wants to move into the city?: Explain HOW it's an investment when people can't sell their homes? Exp-lain HOW it's an investment when it even more people want to flee the city> Explain HOW it's an investment when it's CEO takes is fat taxpayer subsidized salary flees the city and then makes the financially struggling homeowners pay for part of his school taxes by his illegally getting two STAR exemptions? And I guess you think 8 cents on an order of fries at BK, or 40 cents on a burrito or beer, outweighs the record LOSSES in taxes from the DRASTICALLY PLUMMETING property values, yes? And again, DV, people who come into the county to make major purchases DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT PAY SALES TAXES TO Schenectady Co. They p;ay to the county in which they live----THAT is the law |
