A Rasmussen survey {11/30/11} of likely voters nationally has more bad news for Obama. Newt Gingrich has for the first time topped him 45-43% with 6% who prefer another candidate and 6% undecided. Until this poll Mitt Romney was the only REP candidate who has been ahead of the President. A generic REP consistently leads the President.

Both Newt and Mitt are now beating Obama? Talk about great Christmas gifts. Obama should support the occupy movement and stoke class warfare some more. It's really working for the REPS.

I actually thing Newt is worst and maybe even more dangerous than Obama.  He has great rhetorical skills, but as far as his record on supporting a return to a limited Constitutional government, it doesn't exist.  He is a right wing statist that supported and profited in the tune of MILLIONS from the fascist Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

I hope America doesn't get fooled again.  I thought people would have learned from the 2008 election that listening to candidate’s words without studying their actions over their lifetime is what landed us Obama.  People shouldn’t get fooled by the words of a skilled politician that knows how to say the right thing to the right crowd.

No one is worse than Obama. Stop thinking all the voters are as foolish as those here. Gingrich is great on foreign policy. He has won every debate and has been soaring since he said what had to be said about the occupy movement. Romney has excellent business expertise something sorely absent with the failed community organizer.

Newt is the flavor of the month in the GOP right now nothing else. Last month it was Cain, the month before that was Perry, before that Bachman, for the love of God even Trump hit the high point in the beginning. Newts record is going to drag him down quick, he flip flops just as bad as Romney and that says a lot. If the GOP nominates another rhino or neo-con they're in deep sh1t, conservatives will look for a alternative to these big government clowns and split the vote and to be honest I wouldn't blame them one bit, there is no way in hell I would vote for Romney or Newt.

Newt always says what conservatives want to here, but what he does has been consistently self serving and against conservative principles. How can a party  so obsessed with marriage endorse a man who has had three wives? Newt has no morals and the more people get to know him the less they like him. He's polling good right now because people are upset with the economy and have't looked into what Newt has done. If the republicans want to win the white House Newt is a horrible choice.

He divorced one of them when she was sick with cancer.

The current field of GOP candidates are not only embarrassing themselves, and the GOP, they are embarrassing the country, which hasn't gone without notice in the rest of the world.

They are being called "Farcical".
A field of nothing but liars, demagogues and ignoramuses.

Considering  the present cast of characters, Republicans still opt for "other" in place of those running.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Gingrich vs. Obama ---- that is like having to choose between hearing Yoko Ono sing and a heard of shrieking cats in heat.

If the press wants to say that the only choices are Mitt, Newt or Other, I, too, choose Other.  They need to allow all the choices in the question.  This will be the election for Ron Paul and the media will need to listen, otherwise, you might as well say goodbye to the United States.

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy...When will you ever learn?

Quoted Text

My mother and I have both recently run into quite a few people who hold an inaccurate understanding of this hospital visit. Many think my mother is dead.

So, to correct the record, here is what happened: My mother, Jackie Battley Gingrich, is very much alive, and often spends time with my family. I am lucky to have such a "Miracle Mom," as I titled her in a column this week.

As for my parents' divorce, I can remember when they told me.

It was the spring of 1980.

I was 13 years old, and we were about to leave Fairfax, Va., and drive to Carrollton, Ga., for the summer. My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home.

Soon afterward, my mom, sister and I got into our light-blue Chevrolet Impala and drove back to Carrollton.

Later that summer, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her.

It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won't repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here's what happened:

My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.

Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother.

She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor.

The tumor was benign.

As with many divorces, it was hard and painful for all involved, but life continued.

As have many families, we have healed; we have moved on.

We are not a perfect family, but we are knit together through common bonds, commitment and love.

My mother and father are alive and well, and my sister and I are blessed to have a close relationship with them both.

My sister and I feel that it is time to move on, close the book on this event and focus on building a great future. We will not answer additional questions or make additional comments regarding this meaningless incident, which occurred more than three decades ago.

As I said, my mother is a private person. She will not give media interviews. She deserves respect and should be allowed to live in peace.
