If Schenectady was doing so great there wouldn't be so many kids in school on the free/reduced lunch program. Population increasing......crime increasing......welfare benefits increasing.......

employment decreasing, middle class decreasing, students graduating decresing, neighborhood quality of

The out of towners who pay no taxes what so ever are pleased at this development. Schenectady has become a destination place for the DSS client. Another example of DEM morons working together. Push out the blue collar and middle class, overtax job creators so they flee making more room for the DSS clients. Then have more free lunch sites and create more non State mandated programs at DSS.

Anyway -- back to the actual thread --- an increase in enrollment is just a demographic trend  --- and not a bad thing.

An increase in enrollment can actually be a very good thing.  It means that families with school age children are choosing to live in the city --- which is something that older, post-industrial, northeast US cities have NOT seen in a long time as young families fled to the suburbs and southern states.

The nayboobs are quick to demean and tear down there community --- their voices should be drowned out by those of us who actually LOVE our community and are working hard to improve it.

And DV, I trust you know WHY people with families are "choosing" to live in the city.   WELFARE HANDOUTS!!!    Such families can't afford a house in the suburbs, and certainly cannot afford to buy a house in the city.   So they get the taxpayers to fund their rent, to either get the MHA or the Sect 8 money that goes to the tax delinquent landlords.    It's a freebie in the city for those that don't want or can't pay their own way.   Kind of like the wealthy downtown who don't WANT to pay their own way.

And remember the reward that comes with welfare having more kids.   Girls popping out baby after baby adds to the enrollment.

Then, remember, DV, there is the chunk of enrollment where the [good] parents have their children enrolled in the public schools because they can't afford to pay parochial or private school tuition.   And WHY can't they afford the tuition?   Why can't they afford it DV?????    Because they are paying the highest property taxes around because they are paying the property tax bills for the millionaires downtown.  Tell us, DV, which one of these well-heeled businesses downtown is funding the tuition for children to attend private or parochial schools, children whose parents are paying the property taxes of the millionaires downtown.   Well, DV?   Which one?

Of course, he won't provide an answer other than his usual socialist bable

$900/mo rent for a whole house.....the rest is subsidized and get this "they want to know where all the services are that were in NYC, because this is like hick-town where all the drug dealers are backed/run by those in charge".....

DSS caseloads up, food stamps at record levels, mobs at the food pantry, pit bull/gang explosion but all is well according to the one party cheer leaders.
