Armchair Quarterback?
Quoted Text
Some of the responding officers drew their guns when one or more of the occupants appeared to grab something from the back seat and try to conceal it, McCracken said. The trio eventually complied with police orders and were transported to police headquarters for questioning.
The other man in the car was questioned and released without any charges while the driver, a woman, was cited for a traffic violation, said McCracken.
People were forced out of their car by gun point for a traffic violation. One was charged with a traffic violation, the other two were released without charges. I guess if you are comfortable with getting forced out of your car by gun point because you turned right on red, you are willing to submit all your liberties to the state for just about anything. Ohhhh...and don't ‘armchair quarterback’ these situations reported in the paper though, since everybody is a potential threat to the police offices. We must allow the police to threaten the use of lethal force if somebody sneezes wrong. America, what a great country. Do you know that in England, a traffic stop is conducted in a much more civil manner? The police don't scream at you to stay in your vehicle and keep your hands where they can see them, with their hand on their side arm when they are approaching the vehicle. The residents are actually allowed to get out of their vehicle and have a conversation with their police discussing why they were pulled over. It's an amazing contrast. But Americans have been conditioned to the militarism of the police state. The benefit of the doubt is always extended to the police, and never to the victim of police aggression. |

Were you there? If not, armchair Quarterbacking at it's finest. |

Why bother reading the newspaper account about ANYTING then? Obviously, if you only read it and not witness it, then you don't have a right to comment on it based on your standard. Since that would be 'armchair quarterbacking'. This coming from the forum member that had Joepa guilty of covering up child molestation because of a newspaper article. Might as well shut down the forum, since we are all armchair quarterbacking on everything, since most of the threads are based on news articles. |

I find it comical that the same folks who decry all the crime in the city are same ones who will jump on law enforcement whenever they get the chance......ya can't have it both ways......so yeah in this particular situation I consider it arm-chair quarterbacking if you weren't there.....and btw I have been in a situation where I was pulled over, and as I reached to get my registration and ins. card the officer put his hand on his gun.....I had no animosity or bad feelings about what he did..... |

...One more time, you believe that a gun drawn is an accepted reaction for a traffic stop? Maybe if they pulled over the car to serve a warrant to the person the car was registered to, then maybe, just maybe, drawing guns would be a reasonable response to suspicious and sudden movements. But a traffic stop? I have some advice, when pulled over in Schenectady, don't drop your wallet reaching for your license, you could be shot, and apparently justifiably so to some. |

Heard from a good source......car had made a u-turn....and that is reason enough to stop and search..
Rotterdam lets these people go by them....people on cell phones.....travelling at high rate of speed by
Jefferson Elem ., they stop for cars smoking oil, bright lights, high priced vehicles., etc.,
If they observed more in public parking lots, they would be able to stop drug dealers....they now sell Viagara,
and prescription drugs by the numbers....where are any of these dealers being caught....all you see if
theft, harrassment, fighting, etc.,,,,,,come on Rotterdam.....let's stop these drug dealers.....

I find in comical that you think a traffic violation is a crime that requires the threat of lethal force, and that you have no problem with police approaching you with their hand on their side arm which is a threat of force. |

It is easy for a bunch of bloated Nayboobs to sit in their arm-chairs and judge the work that our police do -- just like they judge the work that everyone else does --- while they sit at home (or in whatever psych ward they are committed to) stuffing their faces with holiday leftovers. |

Then I guess we're both laughing our a**'s off at each other............you the skeptic and me the realist..........
I am laughing, but I am the realist, while you are the sheep.... We are living in a world where JoPa is a possible criminal or at least slandered, for not properly reporting an alleged crime to authorities, U.S. citizens are executed by military drones without being charged with a crime or due process of law because they are deemed a "terrorist", and the police state has been given consent to use unlimited force against it's citizens. And if you question the level of force used in a traffic stop, you will be called an 'armchair quarterback' for questioning the states use of force. Wearing a badge is all the justification for the use of lethal force is needed , because it's a "dangerous job". |
