Again, I would rather have you as a next door neighbor than see you at the green market on occasion.

Listen, I have much invested here and it won't get better if another tax-exempt gin mill opens Downtown. It will get better when the gin mills pay taxes, the homeowners taxes come down and people like you and DVOR cheerlead from within the City..not from outside it.

You missed the point of my post.  When outsiders like me visit your city and buy things, it supports YOUR tax base.
The more people who come to Schenectady to shop or see a show or eat at a restaurant, the more your city can
prosper... with out us, it will dwindle and eventually fail.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

agree....but you are not the bread a butter foundation...glad to see you enjoy it but the base cant just be visitors...a strong local foundation of prosperity needs to be fostered....I'm glad folks in
leadership roles in the government want to 'help' folks and are 'proud'(hidden podium puck) of our subsidized community assistance programs, but that is not foundational.....

visitors and community programs are extras.....

sewing sustainable vibrancy throughout the foundation is what is needed.....the select few are doers but the service sector doesn't guarantee a mortgage payment.....

college town with actors/musicians/bartenders/waitstaff/movies does not equate to foundation building as nice as they are......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

"Taxes are not too high in the City" quoted from DVR in the TU- ROTFLMAO!! The problem is not the corrupt incompetent DEM morons. It's the fact that a reporter dares print the facts from the CD Board of Realtors. City home prices are crashing and no amount of blarney about a state of the art garage or useless PILOTS downtown can change the facts on the ground. The DEMS have destroyed the City's fiances and it will take more than one Vince Riggi to correct your stinking mess.

Every time the DEMS get caught with their pants down they fall back on nonexistent tourism {think Gillette House scandal} or nonexistent green jobs {think Solyndra scandal or the ALCO mountain of mud}.

What I get from all this is the fact that Schenectady is so great because

     1.  People like to eat
     2., People like to drink
     3.  People like to be entertained

Schenectady used to be able to do these things and more in the past and have more residents employed who

in turn would be able to shop at the MANY retail stores to spend their money   Movie theaters were always full

not just in the downtown area, but in other parts of the city.  Business was good in all neighborhoods and

it was safe to walk the streeets anywhere in Schenectady.

To think that the city is thriving is a misnomer....the activity is only in one place.....State Street...between

Nott Terrace and Erie Blvd.

This is my opinion and observation.

Schenectady's problems are similar to many Mohawk Valley Cities... The big industry dwindled or left and the city deteriorated.

Amsterdam ~ Rug mills
Johnstown/Gloversville ~ Leather industry
Canajoharie ~ Beech Nut
Ilion ~ Remington
Etc...

ALCO left Schenectady and GE has shrunk to a shadow of it's former size.  Those are the facts.  Schenectady's future is
yet to be determined.  Crime, taxes, jobs are problems in all these cities. Schenectady is no different.
This board seems to thrive by knocking down the few good things left in the city.  I have no political affiliation in Schenectady...I
don't know the ruling party or it's politics, and don't care.

My posts concern those who seem to delight in demeaning the few good things left that may help the city recover.

Try buying a pair of shoes or suit Downtown and lie about "renaissance". Metrograft is a complete failure. $100 MILLION flushed down the toilet by idiot DEM hacks. They have no planning credentials. They hang up on residents. They lie about jobs created. When you push them on it they give you a list of announced positions whether actually created or not. But no list of the thousands that fled the County. More Joseph Goebbels handiwork.

DVR/GG/SB has made a total fool out of himself on the TU blogs. He is the only moron supporting these DEM a** clowns. Then he tells every one to move from the City. What next rave about Lumpy's County summer camps? The jig is up. The myth of machine invincibility has been shattered. Viva la resistance.

The FACT that the part of State Street between Nott Terrace and Erie Blvd is THRIVING ..... is something that the Republicans/NNTPers don't want people to feel good about ...... they want to twist it into something bad.

Why?????????

Because when Schenectady had a Republican Mayor,  a Republican County Legislature and a Republican State Senator .. and a Republican Governor and President ----- that area was practically a ghost town ---  businesses closing,  no one coming to shop or stroll except criminals.

We got rid of the Republican Mayor --- got rid of the Republican County Legislature -- got rid of the Republican Governor and President ---- and in 2012 will get rid of the Republican State Senator ...............

Schenectady's Renaissance continues thanks to  Democrats working together.

Benny Is a perfect example.  Try buying a pair of shoes ANYWHERE?  Any Mohawk Valley City!

Try this Benny...
Try attending a Broadway Play in any Mohawk Valley City.  Not a local group but an actual Broadway Play.
I went to see Wicked at Proctors... it was fantastic and sold out every performance.  What city in our area has that
venue?  Where else can we go to see world class entertainment?  Then stop for a coffee & pastry, or a meal  with only
a few blocks walk?

For the last time... This board only sees the negative... they promote the negative, while minimizing any positive.

Their motto:
"IF ANYTHING GOOD EVER HAPPENS IN SCHENECTADY, LET US KNOW... WE'LL PROUDLY GET RID OF IT"
