Democrats have only taken control of the County Legislature the past 8 years -- and have LOWERED taxes 4 times ---
Those ARE the facts -... -- but those ARE the irrefutable facts.

PROVE IT!!!!!!!!!

Come on DV, PROVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Provide us the numbers to support your claim that the county taxes were lowered.   Come on DV, PROVE IT!!!!!

Your too dumb, fat and old now  to be a whore. Your a wannabe follower who has never been on a winning team.  Okay yes the republicans controlled everything in the city for the past 100 years.  It is because you were helping the DEMS.  Once you quit or be quit, the DEMS will succeed again. Goodnight geezer.

Yes the democrats were elected.  There was no successes though that weren't paid for by the tax payers.  My grammar was intentional.  Be quit = Tits up = when the handycapped hamster running your feeble mind gives up.

Yes the Democrats did succeed.  Schenectady's credit rating will be down graded in the near future.

How this plays out.....

Gary succeeds after the recount, he takes credit for the whole mess.

Hull succeeds in being elected but due to the recent voted resolutions, he immunized from responsibility for the whole budget and fiscal mess.

The house os cards will fall.  Sooner rather than later. The DEMs hold the bag either way.

You can't keep going back 20 years and blaming the REP for the current fiscal mess in the City of Schenectady.

It's easy to dumb-down society when the Gazetto is clearly DEM owned and run. You also have 54% of the residents as tenants ...not homeowners and therefore have no idea of the property tax issues. Then the number of social-services-career-abusers taking advantage of the easily manipulated county is staggering.

There are a number of HUGE problems in the City that...if addressed...would be clearly damning to the current leadership.

Whichever party comes into power..DEM/Rep/Alliance/Green...someone needs a backbone. Stepping on toes is needed because everyone seems to be pussyfooting around this clearly corrupt environment.

The FACT is that the REPUBLICANS ran the county, represented in the state legislature and controlled the Governorship and the State Senate for most of the period when Schenectady County began and was in decline -- starting from the huge layoffs at ALCO in 1959 through the early 2000's -- this is when the Renaissance or Rebirth began and that coincides with the Democratic party regaining control of the County Leg.

Republicans were in control when the county tax rates climbed and climbed to record levels --- Republicans were in control when thousands of jobs (at least 50,000) left the county --- Republicans were in control when thousands of residents emigrated OUT of the city and when the downtown and neighborhoods lost businesses and fell into disrepair.

The FACT is that the Democrats have only had 8 years to turn things around -- and things have begun to turn around --  tax cuts in 4 of the last 6 budgets and a 0% tax increase for 2012 despite the overall state of the national economy,  businesses are coming BACK IN to downtown and other parts of the county,  jobs are being created and gradually improvements are being realized in every aspect of community life.

The Republicans/NNTPers/Nayboobs may not like the truth ----- but that is the TRUTH.

When the collapse comes the Dems will finally be held responsible for the entitlements that they created and refuse to reform. Those that are living on those benefits and have been for generations will rise up and turn on their masters just like they are in Greece.

You have to lower the tax rate when the total assessment is increased by a BILLION DOLLARS. In the past 10 years the average County tax bill is up over 80%. Things are so great that Schenectady is the ONLY area city with a median resale house price under $100,000. Rotterdam home sales tanked 31% in a year more than any area town. Scotia is now number 3 on the worst taxes in the region-with Rotterdam number 10.

The collapse has come and the incumbents are throwing deck chairs overboard. Look who the DEM morons elect for City Council; a community college employee been on the Council 12 years, another do nothing who begs for a last term, and a small business failure who had to close her business. The only DEM to lose has accounting expertise!

~YUP! The reason SAC left Schdy GE was Karen B Johnson...not  the global price of Small AC Motors.
~The reason Microwave Tube left GE Schenectady was Karen B Johnson... not a change in technology.
~The reason the GE Foundry left  Schenectady was Karen B Johnson... not outdated facility or the price of overseas
forgings.

Conversely...
~ The reason that the GE Stator Frame shop (and those jobs) left Merrimack NH and moved to
Schdy GE... Had nothing to do with Karen B Johnson.
And
~The reason that Small generators shut down it's plant in Lynn MA. and moved that work (and those jobs) to
Schdy GE... had nothing to do with Karen B Johnson.

~I think that every rainy day that happened in Schdy will also be Karen B Johnson's fault.. Of course it is!

I believe that Mr. Cermak's assertion that GE employed 28,000 people in Schenectady in the late 1980's is incorrect --- I am in the process of finding the actual number.

Exactly Boxy - the DEMS keep blaming the REP for the present state of affairs, when the DEMS are the ones in power NOT CHANGING A GOD DAMN THING!!!

Please, the past is past, wanna play the blame game, go right the f-ahead. I've just proven how asinine it is.

Fact is, nobody is addressing the high taxes - the City and County keep giving money to gin mills. No one is addressing the City waste - McCarthy and friends stamped approval for a budget which cuts NOTHING! No law enacted for pit bulls, no gun buy backs, no taser for all the police force....please!!

The DEMS are in power....DO SOMETHING to lower the City taxes. DO SOMETHING to address the high crime. DO SOMETHING to stop for-profits (and the failing non-profits) Downtown from sucking up the taxpayers money like hoovers. DO SOMETHING about the abuse in the welfare system. No one has a spinal column or an original-taxpayer-saving thought. All they know is how to rally the troops when election time rolls around.

The governments in both Rotterdam and Schenectady refused to lower the taxes levied on GE which were too high. The unions were greedy and refused to keep salaries/benefits at a level where GE could compete with cheap overseas labor. Large and Small motors went South for cheaper labor and lower taxes. The cost of labor and taxes have forced GE to do business in countries where they can produce products at a competitive price unless they get government subsidies to make up the difference.
