The REAL PROBLEM is that for about 40 years from 1960 through 2000 --- the Republicans controlled the Schenectady County Legislature -- and controlled the Governor's office --and controlled the State Senate -- and for most of that period we were represented by GOP State Legislators --- who allowed the city and county to slide into "rust belt status" and it was the REPUBLICANS who raised our county taxes to the record high levels.
Democrats have only taken control of the County Legislature the past 8 years -- and have LOWERED taxes 4 times --- and made a LOT of positive changes -- but it is going to take a number of years to grow out of the economic mega-depression that the Republicans brought our county.
Those ARE the facts --- the Nayboobs will squeal wildly like the ignorant piggies that they are -- but those ARE the irrefutable facts.
Yep, MORE THAN HALF of the 40 years was under a DEM Governor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello! |

Actually -- Between 1960 and the early 2000's - for ease of calculation lets say from January 1959 to December 31, 2002 (since the Dems took control of the County Leg on January 1, 2003) the State was led for only 20 years by Democratic Governors -- 8 by Hugh Carey and 12 by Mario Cuomo and for 24 years by Republican Governors 15 years Nelson Rockefeller, 1 year by Malcolm Wilson and 8 years by George Pataki.
So -- using basic math learned in kindergarten -- one can see that my statement that Republicans controlled the NY State Governorship for MOST (most - "meaning more than any other " definition provided for the assistance of NNTPers/nayboobs) of that period is absolutely correct. |

Who cares. Democrats/Republicans....... Doesn't matter. Question is, what are we gonna do about it? Gary McCarthy doesnt have what it takes to get it done. If he wins the election, he wont make it the whole 4 years guaranteed. People are not going to give him another 4 years to pull his head out of his a$$ or take some Economics Classes. There will be a revolt by the citizens. Guaranteed. |

NY State had the largest state tax cut in it's history with Mario Cuomo's" New York New York" tax cut. Something all Conservatives seem to forget. |

First, the 8 years under Pataki might as well have been under Democrat control, as he was nothing more than a big RINO. Second, if you want to know what has been going wrong in NY, well, look at the fact of the New York State Assembly. Everything that went through ANY of the above Governors had to be approved by the Assembly, which has been in the control of the Democrat Party, passing down those state mandates (which adds to the federal to give us our county taxes, since w know there's no spending besides the mandates), since 1973. If we can say that there's any change that's happening in Albany as far as these mandates, the change may have started, but at this rate, it will take a LONG time to change the power in the Assembly. With the last election, the Assembly is now at a point where the power is in the hands of the Democrat party at a rate of just less than 2-1 (99-51). I guess this is better than the US House, which the Democrat Party has a 3-1 lead (21-7), but with the power how it is in Albany, this number is changing every 10 years, as we lose population to other states that have a climate which is better to do business (both weather and taxes). |

You also appear to have a problem reading. I said revolt. If it weren't for "TeaPartier's" we may be still owned by the Redcoats. There is a teapartier in most of us once pushed far enough. You obviously have no skin in the game or your a n insider with benefits. |

You should look up the word "revolt" --- it does carry the connotation of violence. And - the current group that calls themselves "tea-partiers" are NOT the same people who fought in the American Revolution -- and the current group IMHO shares none of the positive attributes of the leaders of the American Revolution. |

Pataki was a registered Republican and nominee of the Republican party when elected and throughout his service as Governor ---- that you consider him a RINO doesn't change the FACT that he was and is a Republican. |

Thank you. I am male. The Tea party is coming. People are fed up. If not now, they will be once they open up that first county tax bill with the new fees. If not then, they will be when they get hammered with a long list if code enforcement findings, or when the shootings start happening closer and closer to home. It is only a matter of time. The citizens are at there breaking point. The city is also at its breaking point financially. The administration will continue to tax, fee, surcharge and fine the citizens/businesses and visitors/customers. The city will force it's will and the tipping point will be found. |

DV's EXACT WORDS: "REAL PROBLEM is that for about 40 years from 1960 through 2000 --- the Republicans controlled ...... the Governor's office." I admit I was off by one year, I was going to say 21 years by dems. Actually it was 20 years each. But of course then DV feels he has to stretch the dates a little more. Well, DV, let's look at THE REPUBLICANS.....who provided the STAR exemptions, of course, once again, you have proven totally that you have NEVER owned property, and obviously you don't look at the tax bills of the people who you sponge off because then you would see how the school tax BILLs have gone down. HOWEVER, I will admit that STAR isn't perfect, is that it basically just resulted in school districts to feel they could increase their spending figuring the homeowners would be more amenable to a $10 increase on a $1,000 tax bill than on the previous $1,500 tax bill (dollar amounts not intended to reflect any specific district or bills). School tax bills today with STAR exceed what they were without STAR. But let's get back to this dem thing. Gee DV, how about fast fowarding to the recent times. How's that whore house patron Spitzer? Were you shaking your pom poms for him too? He was probably probably sucking up to Patterson too. |
