Christopher & Banks is closing 100 stores The Business Review by Ed Stych, Web Producer Date: Friday, November 11, 2011, 3:02pm EST - Last Modified: Friday, November 11, 2011, 3:05pm EST
Struggling women's clothing retailer Christopher & Banks Corp. said Friday it will close about 100 stores nationwide by the end of January. Minneapolis, Minn.-based Christopher & Banks (NYSE: CBK) also said in a news release that it was laying off employees from its home office, would seek to restructure leases for the stores that will remain open, and will accelerate its plans to consolidate some Christopher & Banks and CJ Banks stores into dual format stores. As of Friday, the company operated 761 stores in 45 states. That includes 472 Christopher & Banks stores, 238 of its plus-size CJ Banks stores, 28 dual-concept locations, and 23 outlet stores. There was no immediate word about which stores would close. Jean Fontana, with the company's investor relations department, told The Business Review that all the stores to be closed have not been identified. There are four Christopher & Banks stores in the Albany, New York, area: Colonie Center , Crossgates Mall , Rotterdam Square Mall and Wilton Mall ......................>>>>....................>>>>........................http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/news/2011/11/11/christopher-banks-is-closing-100.html

Lisa, look at the post before that --- it blames the voters for voting for the stores to be closed --- you really need to read and attempt to comprehend before you post anything |

Yall voted for the party that likes to tax anything that moves, breaths or has a pulse - not conducive to a business friendly environment without handouts, stimulus and pilots. |

If Lisa (Patches), Joe (GrahamBonnet), "fake catholic" (Mobile Terminal) and the he/she monkey combined --- they wouldn't even add up to a HALF-WIT. |

Actually -- as far as Christopher & Banks is concerned -- it wasn't one of the stores that I or my family actually cared for and/or patronized. It was just one of a number cookie cutter chain women's clothes stores that sold cookie cutter women's clothes and accessories made in sweat shops in Asia and South-East Asia.
What is lacking now a days are the locally owned clothing stores that sell American made goods and provide good customer service. There used to be a number of very good locally owned clothing stores (and other stores) in Schenectady and the Capital District .... and shopping used to be an interesting experience. Especially, shopping around the Holiday Season .......... even shopping for Christmas decorations has gotten "ho-hum" .. because basically all that is left are the "cookie cutter" decorations .. no uniqueness .. no originality. |

When you reelect anti-business DEMS don't be surprised when you have no businesses. RSM will make a bigger foot print for Death Ray to bring in his governmental gin mills. |

And this is why the entire chain is failing. Because DVOR decides that he doesn't care for it. Yeah, OK. Tell us this, then. If the chain (insert any chain name here, ie C&B, Friendly's, etc.) has 750 stores, then why is it that when they're going through their restructuring and closing stores, does it automatically seem to make sense that they definitely have no reason to keep the store that is located in Schenectady County open over and above any other store? What do you think makes that determination? I know you won't answer, so I will for you. It's called overhead, rent, taxes, "state and federal mandates," the cost of doing business. If it costs less, there is more of a chance that they will stay in business. It costs too much to stay in business in Schenectady County, so they all close their doors here. |
