Count ends; lead at 62
With all ballots now in, Schenectady's mayoral race shifts to challenges

By CAROL DEMARE, Staff writer
Updated 09:47 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2011

SCHENECTADY -- Sixty two votes separated Gary McCarthy from Roger Hull Monday night with all absentee ballots and affidavits counted.

McCarthy's lead over Hull had dwindled from the 77-vote edge on election night, yet Hull still had a tough climb to overcome the acting mayor.

The 62-vote lead by McCarthy, a Democrat and acting mayor, came in about 7:30 p.m. as the Board of Elections officials and representatives of both candidates, along with other interested parties, ended the night. Hull was the Alliance Party candidate and also had the Republican ballot line.

Even though the counting finished Monday night, the recount isn't over. There are some 225 ballots objected to by attorneys for both candidates.

"All could go to court" where a judge will determine for whom the person voted or whether the ballot should be tossed, Republican Elections Commissioner Art Brassard said......................>>>>....................>>>>......................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Count-ends-lead-at-62-2280933.php#ixzz1eQvANM5U

Election Day runaround for some Sch’dy voters

While I was at my polling place to cast my votes on Election Day in north Schenectady, I observed a disturbing situation. An elderly couple was totally frustrated, to the point of leaving in disgust without voting, because “their names were not on the list.” I could not help but overhear.
They were being told that they were in the wrong location and to go to another specified location and that their names would be listed there. They responded that they had just come from that location and were told that their names were not on that list and to go to the polling place they were at now. How crazy is that?
I suggested that they not leave without voting because it is our privileged right, and asked could I help in any way. They stated to me that they have lived in the same home for 40 years and have voted at the same polling place every year. They were just beside themselves, and threw up their hands and left.
Another person’s name was not found while I was there and a similar situation took place. If this happened twice here in only a few minutes, it makes me wonder how many other times during the day that others experienced the same scenario.
I suggest that the registration process, signatures, the lists/addresses of voters, as well as the voting machines and the workers at the polls be carefully scrutinized before Election Day. If we are well prepared in advance, perhaps there will be less confusion counting.
This business of deciding which ballot to count and which to throw out is very disconcerting to me. What’s with all these objections? And we need to stop projecting and just count. Everyone’s vote should count! What if they decided to throw out your precious vote? And a possible court decision as to who will be our mayor? Hmm...

What public figure have I used offensive terms to describe ?
Provide actual incontrovertible proof that I actually was the author of the post --- the fact is that you will not be able to produce such proof because you folks are a bunch of chronic liars .. because if you are referring to the posts of Scotsgod or Smoking Bananas or Gravel Gertie  ... I have NEVER used those user names -- BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER USED ANY OTHER USER NAME THAN THIS ONE.

It is pretty safe to say -- the Hull and his thugs did not get the votes they expected out of Bellevue .. which pretty much insures that Mayor McCarthy will remain in office.

Does anyone know the break down of objections by each side?  So out of the 225 how many were objected to by McCarthys Side, Hulls side and by both?  This would at least tell us which way this is leaning.

Vince Riggi crushed the DEM politards. Four years of Vince Riggi destroying your pension padding plans. Try another DEM moron robo call. The cricket guy can try in two years and lose again. The vast majority of the objections were by McCarthy/Silvers DEM attorneys.  The only thugs out were Lumpy and his sign rippers. The myth of DEM invincibility has been shattered. Nebolini you don't need the no vote IND line to win-no?

Notice that the   Nayboobs/Alliance/NNTPers can't take responsibility for losing the election themselves --- like a bunch of  immature children they have to blame someone else for their failures.

If they don't have a total recount, after the fiasco at the school........the voters will feel that they have been cheated out of their vote.

It is clearly too close for 'anyone' to call right now. It's anyone's guess!

Mayoral vote case continues
Updated 10:34 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011

SCHENECTADY — Lawyers for mayoral aspirants Gary McCarthy and Roger Hull will head to court Monday to argue over votes they raised objections to during days of counting absentee and affidavit ballots, according to representatives of the two candidates.

The showdown will determine the next mayor of the Electric City, which has been in dispute since election night, Nov. 8, when McCarthy, the acting mayor and a Democrat, held a 77-vote lead over Hull, the Alliance Party founder and the former Union College president.

Brian Young, Hull's campaign manager, said Tuesday they hoped to pare down the 208 objected votes to about 100 before appearing in front of state Supreme Court Justice Vincent Reilly on Monday..................>>>>....................>>>>.............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Mayoral-vote-case-continues-2283119.php#ixzz1eWntQZei
