Meanwhile, in Schenectady several days of ballot counting over the disputed mayoral race could end Monday with either Gary McCarthy or Roger Hull as the victor.
On Friday, McCarthy, a Democrat, ended the day with a 65-vote lead over Alliance Party candidate Roger Hull after 29 of 44 election districts were counted, according to representatives from each side. McCarthy began Friday up by 58 votes.
In District 29, which encompasses the city's Woodlawn neighborhood, the two candidates took 24 votes each with 21 objections and four blank ballots that won't count, according to Hull's campaign manager Brian Young. All told, there are 145 objections.
"I think we're still feeling pretty good," said Young. He and Hull's attorney said Friday they remained hopeful despite a ruling by state Supreme Court Justice Vincent Reilly. He rejected Hull's request to count all 9,000 paper ballots that voters fed into the optical scan machines on Election Day.
Hull had argued the optical scan machines at Schenectady High School may have been compromised when they were unplugged and moved outside during a fire and bomb scare.
Hull's attorney, James Walsh, said they can still appear before the judge and make the same request.
The attorneys and representatives for the two candidates will return Monday morning to a back room of the Schenectady County Board of Elections office to resume scrutinizing absentee and affidavit ballots.

DVOR LIED when he tried to tell us that it was only Hull objecting to ballots. Now the paper prints that it is both candidates. Apparently the Gazette did not get the memo from the party bosses in time to keep up the charade that it was only Hull who was "disenfranchising" the voters. That is the thing about lies and liars: Daylight cleans them out.
