Schenectady mayor's race still too close McCarthy, Hull separated by just 77 votes; 500 absentee ballots still out to be counted By LAUREN STANFORTH Staff writer Updated 01:21 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011
SCHENECTADY -- Acting Mayor Gary McCarthy and former Union College President Roger Hull were separated by just 77 votes in the race for mayor.
The race will be decided by the approximately 500 absentee ballots cast in the race and it could be days before those ballots are counted....................>>>>.................>>>>................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....93.php#ixzz1dD2JxqwH
Vince Riggi a new Councilman and crushed the corrupt DEM machine. Bye Bye Peggy King. When the heavily Hull paper votes are all counted Roger Hull will be new Mayor. The question only for the DEMS- Are you stupid? Your County employees were taped ripping down Alliance signs on Union Street. Over 50 thrown in the street. We have the licensee plates and will be going to the press today. More bye-byes bully boys.
I noticed at the polling place....I was one numbered voter but count on machine was 21 less. I was told that is because folks made mistakes and either that one was put in a sealed envelope or they had to redo it. The pile of envelopes didn't seem like 21???
McCarthy is confident with the absentee ballots he will win.
Hope Hull demands a recount of all votes if this happens.
When I went to vote I knew I was voting for Pat and Vince what I saw going in to vote well I voted for Hull. And what happened when I left made me realize I made the right decision.
Was wondering who is there when absentee votes counted? Also did anyone go into nursing homes etc to get absentee ballots signed?
good spin, considering 400 of those ballots went to Dems in the city.. do the math.. mcc by 200
That's unless the absentee voters aren't lock-step hacks.

Right SB. I am sure McCarthy with all his connection in law enforcement was able to hand out a few hundred absentee ballots to those currently in jail.

Hey SB. Have you come up with proof from GCAR yet that house values in Schenectady county are increasing? Still waiting for you to provide proof from GCAR itself, NOT from a newspaper worker's own comments

Did they show you the envelopes?
Was it an a site that had like two districts but one scanning machine? Because those sealed envelopes would be kept with the district that the voters who made mistakes had voted from. So, I guess if the machine said 21 votes less and you saw a pile of 10 envelopes in the district you vote in, but if there's another district (table) on the other side of the room, they might have the others. We take someone we know who is older over to Schdy HS, we went in the evening, and it's mere common sense, they had like 7 or 8 districts there, but only three scanning machines and you can go to any machine you want, they don't tell voters that because they signed in at such and such table that they must use the scanner in the far corner vs the one closer here, etc. So obviously, if you knew that you were voter # 100, but you saw some number on a machine that seemed like 200 votes were cast, well, it's common sense

Yeah, we'll see about those absentee ballots. We'll have to find out about city residents who are "patients" in the Savage Palace Nursing Home, find out who helped them with their ballots.
But yeah, absentee ballots are one thing. Then wonder what happened with the machines at the high school. I heard they were evacuated twice, the first time the machines were left unattended. The second time they were unplugged and taken outside. They are computers for crying out loud. If you had to evacuate your house but you obviously want to turn your computer off, are you going to sit there and properly log off everything you are signed in to, then properly save and close files, properly close programs. and then do proper shut down stuff and sit there and wait until you see the comptuer is shut down and off? If you are going to evacuate suddenly, you'll just pull the plug, what's lost may be lost, some permanently, other stuff may be in a temporary file somewhere so when you open the program it was give you a message. It depends, I'd like to think that the manufacturers of the machines as well as government would consider every possibility, but we have no proof.
Just food for thought

I would think/hope that they had battery backup.

I believe that Gary McCarthy will prevail when the absentee ballots are counted.

Only one machine and the envelopes were on the table in front of the polling person. Actually, it was not more showed had voted but less.
Just pile didn't look anything near the amount difference
