How important is a tradition? It brings about a cohesion. It is celebration shared.
When we have so much we have lost in this city. When we are being stepped on over and over again by the city administration. When the economy is already dealing us a blow then the city kicks us even more and does nothing but add fuel to the fires. Tradition is something that gives us the strength to not let these things take us down farther.
So what does this city do? Opps city the has a tradition too doesn't it....Well that is a cohesion with the lowlifes but I am referring to the positive traditions. The coming together of family and friends, our residents.
So why are we still allowing the Christmas parade to be moved to a day other then the day after Thanksgiving. Things are just are not the same. Something that brought so many together now doesn't.
Sure times are always changing but some traditions should be left alone.
And as stated earlier..........If there was ever anyplace that needed to be OCCUPIED.....it is Schenectady!!
OCCUPY SCHENECTADY!!!!

Yeah, calling it a holiday parade. It marks the arrival of Santa, which should not take place until after his arrival in the Macy's parade, Santa is Christmas but the socialists now call it a holiday parade. It was greedy fat scraggly haired Morris that seemingly caused the parade to be changed from the day after Thanksgiving. His greed that he absolutely had to have a show on the day after Thanksgiving, knowing full well the multiple generation tradition. But then, he probably was in cahoots with the mayor of BS and the savage woman to do the politically correct crap.
And then, they had to change the route too. Remember when it started around up on Hawk St years ago. And before these dem socialists narrowed the street and put that curve in, you used to be able to see the flashing lights of the police escorts when you stood in downtown proper and looked up to Nott St. The whole route was lined with far more people than ever attend the parade these days.
City better cut those trees down or hope all the leaves come down because when you stand in front of Proctors and look toward Broadway, the trees block your view. THen of course the glare of those short lamp posts blocks vision too.
Yes, remember when people would shop downtown and then watch the parade. They went hand in hand. But then, there's no place to shop downtown anyway other than Rudnicks, unless you want used junk, head shop stuff, and overpriced books
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
Cel, Tuesday, we get the chance to send people to occupy the offices. After that, we need to be occupiers at all meetings for said levels of government.
Yes very well said Cel and everyone I too remember waiting to see the flashing lights knowing the parade was coming our way. We used to run into woolworths and get a hot chocolate. And the Carl Company window heck that was beautiful. Now there is no reason for me to go downtown. Theres a movie with Chevy Chase I can't remember the name of it but he and his wife buy a house out in the country so he can write his book, he has a mailman from hel* and him and his wife end up wanting to sell the house because they have marriage problems. So they get the whole town to decorate for Christmas and everyone is nice to each other.

Morris should be dressed as Mr. Potter
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
I agree 100%. I think BS didn't like the parade tradition because he didn't like Schenectady or Schenectadians. I deplore all this rushing the season anyway. It seems like a deliberate effort by some to change Christmas into "Holiday", a giant festival of consumerism that arrives with the first frost. Okay, enough ranting, stick to the topic.... Morris has too much say. Nobody elected him to anything.
