If they got rid of the riff raff that is allowed there.....the Mall might have a chance...

Secondly, they put in quickie stores for the holidays to sucker in the customers....January1st.....GUMB BYE

Needs a makeover....and some reallly good retail stores.....it;s the same o same o...

BTW.......DVOR....if you did so well in retail......and such.....why aren't you the head honcho for Manager of the
Mall....keep you busy and out of trouble.

When the Filene's was open, we had MANY customers from ALL over --- including customers from Guilderland who refused to shop at Crossgate Mall.   I had regular customers from south-west and west and north of Schenectady.

Schenectady AND Rotterdam are both fine communities.  We must ignore the nayboobs and a-hole whiners who constantly try to tear down the community.    Nothing good ever came from a nayboob.

They didn't have Metroplex for Ron to line up a million for them from.

Filene's was owned by May Department Stores which was bought out by Federated which owns Macy's.
The store at Rotterdam Square Mall did quite well during the years the decade that I worked there -- we always exceeded expectations for sales and profitability.  The Filene's in Rotterdam Square Mall received the CEO Cup for best overall store at least twice during (and came in a close 2nd) a particular 5 year period.

I have no plans to leave the Parks and Recreation Commission --- but I would certainly accept a role in the next administration and proactively work with local developers (including the owners of the mall) and local businesses to enhance their growth --- and would tirelessly track down NEW businesses to bring into Rotterdam.  We can't sit back and wait for the businesses to come -- we must go out and invite them in.

That is a sad statement.  The word invite is code for coerce with taxpayer money.  This is just a wannabe bureaucrat justifying the need for bureaucrats.

No -- the word is INVITE -- as to extend  welcome  and encouragement   ..........  of course the nayboobs and te-partiers haven't brought a single business into town or anywhere else -- so they wouldn't have a clue.

Business's make decisions based on money, not because of a cordial politician.  RIDA doesn't "encourage" business, they aren't the welcoming committee, they offer taxpayer money, and tax breaks.

Actually, community interest and an invitation has worked in the past --- that is how Colonie enticed Fresh Market to Latham and I have seen it done in other communities as well.

Low taxes is the best invite. Unfortunately since we won't have that, they need to offer kickbacks that everyone else pays for.

Sadly.....all of those incidents you mention are FACT! Folks are well aware of what areas of the city are safe to walk durning the day or night. And those areas are expanding, sad to say. Folks know when and where to expect pan handlers and drug dealers. Folks already know that driving on the city streets during the winter will be treacherous. They know where they will step over used condoms. They already know what areas they will find soiled pampers on the sidewalks. ...... THEY KNOW!!!

And unless the city gets a handle on this bullcrap.....it will and/or is coming to your community!
