Oh wise one.  If that is true then why do we continue to sell our soul giving all these tax breaks to those businesses downtown when in the end it does nothing for the city.   It doesnt make sense what they are doing.  Its just lipstick on a pig anyways. Most of those businesses would fail within a year once the training wheels are removed. The rest of them should have never been given the breaks to begin with. The tax payer teat is bleeding.

...................they 'can't lower taxes, they can only increase. They have very cleverly created a society that relies on taxpayer money to survive. This 'created' part of society needs to be clothed, feed, housed and medically treated...all at the taxpayers expense. This my cyber friends are the majority of folks that live in the city of schenectady. They DO NOT contribute to the tax base nor the economy. The do, in fact draw from it. Now add all of the non-profits and the tax exempt metroplex businesses and there is NO MONEY!!

And to add insult to injury....if the dumbed down created society had an 'awakening' and decided to stand on their own two feet and rely on themselves and get a job....THERE ARE NONE!!! These folks don't ever HAVE the opportunity to know what it is like to be self sufficient and to take pride in themselves...not as long as they live in SCUM-nectady.

So why are they so interested in building that side of the equation when we are capped out at $11 million?  

if the city says give us more, the county can say no. then they city's only recourse is to implement its own sales tax, which it had years and years ago,. i think it was like 1 percent, they estimated that that would generate about 9 million at time. so when they gave them 11, city was happy., but can city get more if it goes to own sales tax? good question
