Price Chopper sues ShopRite over alleged trademark infringement
The Business Review by Michael DeMasi, Reporter
Date: Monday, October 24, 2011, 3:02pm EDT - Last Modified: Monday, October 24, 2011, 3:34pm EDT

Price Chopper  is suing ShopRite in federal court in Albany, New York, claiming trademark infringement on the Internet.
Price Chopper’s corporate owner, The Golub Corp.    in Schenectady, claims the owner of ShopRite, Wakefern Corp. in New Jersey, bought keywords on Internet search engines so that ads for ShopRite showed up first when people typed in “Price Chopper ad” or “Price Chopper flyer.”
The lawsuit includes exhibits showing alleged examples of the infringement when someone did a search on Google    , Yahoo!    and Bing.
The Golub Corp. is seeking a court injunction and unspecified damages.................>>>>.....................>>>>....................http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/news/2011/10/24/price-chopper-sues-shoprite-over.html

Sorry Mr.Golub, it's called free enterprise. Just because you've had a monopoly in the Upstate grocery chains - looks like competition is coming.

It's good for the customers and forces businesses to start competing - not price gouging. Stop the lawsuits and get some new ideas on how to compete.

If Price Chopper is a trademarked term, it should NOT be used by competitors for advertising purposes.  (And I loathe Price Chopper for their ripoff pricing, stupid promotions that suck people in by giving them a 2% discount in return for spending 20% more than they would at Hannaford (excluding their sale prices of course))

2 for 1    and all specials  are a ripoff if you understand the concept of competition and still remain with

a gross  margin profit.....

and the Gas is another rip off.....the ad on TV is a ruse....

Golub getting jittery with the competition....no more monopolies.....besides....BJ's and Hannaford product  is

the best grade....watching Anderson Cooper about grocery stores....shop at Walmart's K Marts's etc., for better

bargains in paper products.....very informative program ....

Good luck Shop Rite....

Also, though admirable that PC gives back to the community via free turkeys etc. to the food banks for Thanksgiving, this is greatly made affordable for PC to do so by it's many higher than other outlets pricing.   Thereby they are really only giving back what is the overcharging amount on their many products.   This is how they gain good PR in the local community.   But in their defense maybe their overhead is higher than other markets.   At any rate in a capitalistic market place any competition is good, usually, for the consumer.   At least that's how it's supposed to work.
