"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Occupy Albany Blog
Albany Times Union

The encampment of Occupy Albany thrives at the corner of Washington Ave and Eagle St, directly across from the
Capitol of NY.  We have now been occupying public space for over 3 weeks. Maybe you have seen us, or read
coverage in your local papers.

We have come together now because we know there are some fundamental problems facing our nation today.
We come together because we care about our local communities. We come together to talk about our perceptions
of the current situations. We have stayed because we think this dialogue is of utmost importance.

We want to offer a platform where your voice is heard.

Occupy Albany is a place where neighbors come to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work of creating
solutions to the problems our communities face.
Occupiers are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, your grocer, a teacher, rich or poor, political types, writers,
cooks, the unemployed, people working three jobs, people with tenure, cleaners, sign makers, artists and
scientists, and a place where everyone has a say in how things get done.  We seek to find the common ground
on problems that affect us all and directions we can take to influence this community and nation towards changes
which benefit everyone.
We have started this blog to:

offer insights and perspectives on Occupy Albany
discuss recent events, plans, initiatives, and prospects for the Occupy movement in the region
field questions and do our best to provide our answers to them.

The Times forgot to mention the unions that are supporting this movement. I got an e-mail from the union where I retired telling all retirees where to go and to call if transportation is needed.

It's good to see that your union is supporting the working people of this country, and interested in solving
their problems.

They actually want more money from their company and better benefits from a company they're protesting as being greedy. They should bankrupt all these greedy companies and then see how much money they can get from them.

...solving problems by camping in public parks?   Why don't these people show some initiative and volunteer in their communities to pick up litter or work at the soup kitchens, or volunteer as a big brother or big sister, or help the elderly?  These people are as greedy as the "rich" they are protesting against.

Of course the unions would be there, it’s only natural.  Where else can you go to find a group of people that want to get paid for doing nothing?  Well, where else can you find a group of people that want to get paid for doing nothing but just show up besides the State office complex.

Duhhhh!  The Occupy group ARE doing something for their community.  And if you read any paper, or watch any
news program, you will see the impact they have had already.
Before Occupy Wall Street, the news cycle was about TeaBaggers cutting taxes and politicians making promises that
they won't keep...
Now there is a discussion about "income equity", about Banks raping the American Public, about jobs, and about
Corporate/Government corruption.

As far as your view of " group of people that want to get paid for doing nothing"... Who's getting paid?  Not
those who protest, not those who supply food, water and legal assistance to the Occupy Protesters.  There are no
Shawn Hannity's or Glenn Becks getting rich from the Occupy movement... that was the TeaBagger fiasco.

The majority are spoiled suburban kids who can't find jobs because of Obama's great stimulus plans. They actually heckled our great military veterans. A disgusting group of  anarchists who should be chased from the people's park. Over 70% want them arrested. The Mayor should have listened to Gov Cuomo and stopped this the first night.

The mayor has no backbone.

Poll finds support for Occupy campers
58% in state back letting them stay

November 16, 2011, 6:53 AM

ALBANY—Most New Yorkers believe the Occupy Wall Street protesters around the state should be permitted to camp out overnight in the parks where they have created temporary housing to rally against everything from bank profits to hydraulic fracturing, a new poll has found.

The Siena College poll, released just hours after police cleared hundreds of demonstrators from a park in lower Manhattan, found that 58% of registered voters say the overnight camps should be permitted.

Protesters also have occupied sites in Buffalo, Albany and several other cities across the state.

I said the occupiers want to get paid for doing nothing.  They are sitting in a park doing NOTHING.  How many job applications have they submitted?  Why aren't they leaning a trade or skill they can market and get paid for?  Pick up a hammer, learn a skill, DO SOMETHING!!  Do one of those jobs that "Americans aren't willing to do".  Ya know what, you better be willing to do that job.  They need to grow up and stop sitting their and waiting for the corporation they are protesting to hire them.

What tangible skills do these people have and how much to they EXPECT people to pay for them?  They need to understand that sitting in front of a TV and playing XBOX Gears of War online isn't a skill, even though most of these people think it is, and think they should be paid for it.

Do a survey of the people and businesses living and working in the area where these protests are taking place.

You are entitled to your opinion.
I just wonder where you get such bizarre ideas.  They are protesting for many things that benefit all Americans.
The Corporate/Government issue isn't about "getting paid for doing nothing".
Their protests concerning Fracking in NY State isn't about "getting paid for doing nothing".
The Occupy Financial concerns about our bank systemic failure isn't about "getting paid for doing nothing".
The Occupy issue about higher education concerns making college affordable to all New Yorkers, but isn't about
"getting paid for doing nothing".
